I'm taking anti-depressants (depression caused by HH!). Not sure how similar this is to anti-anxiety medication but I'm sure there's not much difference. They work really well mentally for me but don't have any noticeable effect on the HH.

Therapy might help, though not tried it yet - would be interested to hear if anyone else on this forum has tried it - anyone?

wibbez, do u find yourself more social because of taking the meds? what i mean is, even though the meds wont stop the sweating, it will make you not care as much about hh right?

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Having said that, I wouldn't take this kind of medication just for HH, only take it if you are genuinely suffering from depression / anxiety.

I guess your GP would be able to advise you better on this. Do let me know how you get on.

I wouldn't say I feel great - it's not like you get a big rush or anything... it just makes you feel a bit more normal and able to cope with things a lot better.

anti-anxiety medication

Hi,

I used anti-anxiety medication for a while and it did not work for me. And I had a lot of side effects!

For me, I discover that my HH was in a major part related with hormones. When a take a certain kind of contraceptive pill, my HH decreased considerably.

I think you have to try to find what can be the cause of your HH, whether mental (anxiety, etc.) or physical, and try to resolve the problem. I know that it is easy to say, but having suffering from HH for now 6 years and having seen the best specialists of HH, I know that it is the only way to get rid of it forever, instead of only relieve the symptoms, like doctors do...
