Re: Anxiety attacks walking on busy roads
I have similar thoughs of people watching me etc. and I really don't like knowing that people look at me. Just have to think that you are out there in public, just as much as they are, so there's no more reason for them to bother with you than you, them.

Yeah, unless you're wearing a loincloth and carrying a sign that reads "Will fornicate with strangers for money!", no one is really going to pay much attention to you.

Re: Anxiety attacks walking on busy roads
I try my best to just ignore people and keep my attention on other things in the environment - look at the trees, plants, or think about the model of the car that is coming towards me instead of the person driving it, etc. And also try to act like I couldn't care less what they think about me. It all helps.

Re: Anxiety attacks walking on busy roads
Some anxiety is commonplace and rarely escalates to a panic attack unless something presses your 'inner anxiety accelerator', and your body goes into overdrive. I recall a time that my friend Caroline and I were out on her ponies, a mare called Charlotte and her foal Bracken. They were rescue ponies, I rode Bracken who had grown into a steadfast and reliable ride. Caroline was on Charlotte who was very sensitive and easily spooked.

Re: Anxiety attacks walking on busy roads
Yeah I get that too. Although they properly aren't judging us. I feel anxious when I'm driving. I live in the country so the roads are pretty quiet. If someones behind me I feel as if they are judging me. Like I'm serving all over the road. I hope its all nonsense as Id like to think I'm a pretty good driver. I don't speed, Never had a serious accident and passed my tests first time. Still it plagues me. I also get nervous when giving people rides

Re: Anxiety attacks walking on busy roads
Symptoms of anxiety can vary from a few butterflies in your stomach to a panic attack where you feel that your heart is going to explode and you are going to pass out. These sensations are produced by a natural response to a threatening situation as the body gears up for defensive action or running away. In today's complex world this process often gets hijacked by worrying thoughts, fuelling excess anxiety and panic attacks.

Re: Anxiety attacks walking on busy roads
I get like that sometimes. I don't really like crossing 4 way stop signs when you have people looking at you from all angles. I'll usually only go for walks in the morning cause it's quieter. What helped me is when I am driving and look at other people. Just looking, you know, not even thinking anything about them, so I try to think that they are just doing the same thing, just looking around. Half the time, I notice people driving by are on their cell phones anyways and not paying much attention to anything.

Re: Anxiety attacks walking on busy roads
I know we're talking about extreme reactions but when it comes to stuff like crossing roads, a mild amount of anxiety and panic can be almost useful - just to raise awareness and reactions. I sometimes find thinking about it like this can help get on top of it and stop from taking over.
