Anyone have General Anxiety Disorder as well as SA?

Hi

I've only ever thought that I had Social Anxiety. This week I realised that I actually have GAD too.

I am almost always anxious about one thing or another. I usually feel like I've no time to do things and I'm constantly anxious over everyday things like college work, driving and even small things like finding the time to fill in a form.

I find that I get quite irritable, I'm constantly exhausted and forgetful, and that I find it difficult to stick to things like exercise, 'cause they take up time that I tell myself I don't have.

Can anyone else identify with this? I'd like to hear anyone else's views or stories as I still don't know a lot bout GAD. Please fill me in.

Thanks

I think that I could possibly have a touch of GAD. I defo have SA but there are certain aspects of my life that would require a broader definition of my anxiety than just SA, if ya get what I mean.

Hi xkiss_me_nowx

I'm 21 now and I've been gradually overcoming my SA since I was 17. I've become pretty good at dealing with my SA but I've always had a lot of anxiety I could never deal with.

I only just realised this week that I have General Anxiety Disorder too. This is the reason I could never beat the anxiety in my life, basically because I always thought I only had SA.

I haven't been diagnosed officially either and maybe if I had I could've avoided going a long time thinking that I only have SA.

Right now GAD is interfering with college, getting to sleep, my driving and relationships with friends (not from phobia, but that I never feel like I've the time for them). For example I was anxious all day today because I have an essay due this week. I was sitting around watching t.v. instead of doing the essay because I felt so anxious that I didn't want to do anything else.

I would say that if you feel you have anxiety beyond the phobic fight or flight reaction that you get with SA then look into GAD as well. Wikipedia gives a good description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_anxiety_disorder

Give me a shout back anytime!

Thanks and good to hear from you
