Are you a good person?

It's virtually impossible for me to hurt another person, unless its to protect another person getting hurt. Sadly, perhaps, I never include myself in the equation. It doesn't matter if someone is hurting me, I still won't hurt another.

I don't have a clean past... I used to steal, abuse substances, fight, tear down people's will to live. If I could go back I would to change it all, I would. Its now been a year since my big change, I have been drug free for a year. I only drink one beer at most at social conventions (I'm of age). I get on everyone's good side now, and all of my past bullies I have for forgiven. I donated a box full of gifts to a struggling family for their Christmas. I volunteered to give food to the poor, and I volunteered to help around the autism association and helped raise funds. As I get older I do more good deeds hoping that I can get forgiveness for the bad ones I have committed.

I think some of my customer knows. But they still keep coming. Maybe they enjoy my awkward fake smile, the small talk etc. It's irritating but it's the job. Gotta give them the service they need, for a price of course. Always for a price.

Forget those criticizing you. A job is about business. Business is about making money. It's quite simple. You need your dough. As long as you're not actively hurting someone, it's okay.

People also keep reminding me that I'm stupid. I guess I should thank them for the reminder. They also tell me I'm the nerdiest person they've ever met. Psychotherapists call me a liar, and so do some people in chat threads (although not on this site, for some reason). When I talk about my experiences in life, people sometimes don't believe me, and I suppose I exude stupidity and moral failure. Well, of course I do. It's no suppose.

Adopting a positive attitude, and keeping to it, would change this. For real.

Nobody is "good for nothing" or ugly in every single way.

I work in retail, repairing pc and stuff. Most of the item they sent me are not that broken and still repairable. I would make them think it's not repairable, component must be replaced something like that so that I can charge more. It's for the money. I mean a man's gotta eat right. Don't worry they can afford it.

... :eek:mg:

I'd say something else, but I'm tired at the moment. Have emotes instead.

So if you worked all week to earn your cash, then have some w a n k e r
rip you off..you'd be ok with that? Somehow I dont think you would be.

Your logic is flawed Mr Data.

Business is about making money honestly. Businesses who do it dishonestly normally get found out. And some guy who own a PC repair shop I'm guessing wouldn't exactly be a millionaire, so do you think he would be happy being ripped off?

^To me, as a customer, that is the same thing as stealing money that does not belong to you.

If you have to lie and charge customers for a service that does not need doing, it's the same as reaching into the customers wallet and taking money out for no reason, other than your own greed. That is stealing.

Bronson99, I too see this as just business. And it is a good business.

My boss always say if you gonna rob them, be smart and do it gracefully. The money is there for the taking. Grab it. It's yours.

You make yourself sound like a dandy Highwayman. You just bullshit people that don't know any better, that specifically come to you because they don't know any better.

Agreed.
Funny thing is, those people who are doing the dishonest thing are the first ones to cry foul when it happens to them.

I guess they think its ok for it to happen, just not to them..:eek:mg:

Everybody around me thinks so,I try to not take compliments like those seriously or you end up with a really big ego or disapointing others and specially yourself, but the most important thing to me is that I am trying to become a better person.

All you guys coming down hard on this guy when we have folks like Jordan Belfort and Bernie Madoff around... I haven't heard any one of you take a shot at these folks, who have destroyed lives by abusing their social skills, manipulating, deceiving folks out of many thousands of dollars in one shot.. endless lists of victims, many of which still haven't been repaid.

And you're complaining that a guy at a repair shop, who probably has trouble paying the bills each month, wants to improve his already meager earnings by just a little?

who probably has trouble paying the bills each month

There are plenty of people having trouble paying the bills each month and part of the problem is arseholes who try to squeeze what they can out of consumers because they think they probably can afford it. Treating customers like this is dishonest, and stating that because others do it worse doesn't make it any less so - oh, I broke in to the car and took the wallet, its not like I stole the car or anything

The proper way that an honest business would approach this would be to say its a minor repair, but it will cost this much as we have a minimum charge, do you still want us the fix it?, then everything is up front

^Well said, kihira.
I don't believe the BS mantra of "Every man for himself, screw everyone else".

You may. If you don't tell anybody else :). I got a reputation to maintain.

Sometime I slip by giving them discount, things like that. It happens because some of them are a better bargainer. The guy got a deal, and I got a deal. So its nice. He deserve the discount.

I was being ironic. I was implying that I might steal from you. My point is that I think it is better to build people's trust, and base your business on that.
