There is a guy at my volunteer place that I feel inferior to because he flirts with girls and get girl's phone numbers (I think at least) and for another reason (I am to scared to say). It also has to do with me not talking to girls in person and he is able to do it easily, plus my possible avpd and the fact that I don't talk to anybody male or... by Marc7

So, I currently have two part-time jobs. I am working on a master's degree in one field in which I work. I know within the next 3 years there will be more (full-time) positions in the organization in which I work. There will be one new location, and the one I currently work at it moving, which will result in the need for more employees. Initially,... by lilmutegirl

I recently found out that my ex-husband, who just moved back into the same city in which I live, started a job at the same company where by boyfriend works. Not only that, but his wife will be working for the library system I work for, only at a different location than the one I work at. I sincerely hope she finds another job somewhere else she... by lilmutegirl

Hey guys, this is like my first or second post ( I don't remember exactly). Lately I've been having this obsessively aware of my loneliness. I feel lonely all the time, the whole ****ing day. I have no friends at all, it's really amazing to say the least. I feel so sad, and depressed because of it, I just think ending it all would be easy. ... by No_Imagination

Hi, So basically I'm not a social person. When I was younger I was very social and active, but after a few horrible experiences later in life when people were extremely mean and hostile towards me, I became antisocial. Not that I'm feeling low or unconfident about it. I'm fine with it. The question is: How should you deal with people who try to... by lonewolfgirl

I thought maybe this would be a big break maybe I could put together a novel or somthing with this kind of techology . So I decided to try and talk into a voice recorder to help get me started. I think I have Avoidant Personality Disorder, I have researched for different disorders for the past year and this one suits me the most. I began searching last when I almost failed my final year degree project because I could not consult with my supervisor and worse did not hand in my project because I knew it was not good enough. By the way I am... by Wizzy

Does anyone here feel scared to open themselves up to new experiences because past ones didn't go so well? I'm only 29 but have lived through a lot in my lifetime. I can't imagine what the future has in store for me, it's quite worrisome actually to think about. Cancer? Being cheated on? A loveless relationship? Something worse? Perhaps the whole... by treegirl

Hola, People use to have the impression that avoidants are sloopy people, careless of their higiene. My last psychologist put the stress on the importance of taking care of the image we project other people. It's not for narcissist reason but bc we have a part of our self-steem which is fed by the feedback other people provide us. That is,... by April72

Hey guys, I've never officially been diagnosed with anything (need to avoid mental health professionals lol) but fit overwhelming amounts of diagnostic criteria for both social anxiety for the past almost 10 years and even AVPD. I am much better at handling my anxiety... I mask it with disassociation/apathy. Probably not any healthier though! ... by sahxox

Have the avoidants an antiposting symdrom? Come on, it's not so difficult to write a pile of nonsenses like me. Ask about your worries, your sufferings, your fears, your suscess, your failures, your wishes... Rant if you need it. by April72

Hey, guys!! I was wondering how much I would like to be a proffessional músician. Thing I neither can dream bc of my avoidance. The single idea of perform something in front of people sounds like impossible for me. With time and experience, I learnt to sing and dance and make any kind of role plays in front of my learners and some coworkers but... by April72

Yesterday, I was talking with a friend (an avoidant) about childhood. Her childhood, on the contrary to mine, was horrible. She knew soon what being an outsider meant. It's sad. Children shouldn't suffer for anything. I, on the contrary, was a normie. Yes, I can say that there was a part of my life when I was a normal person. The only... by April72

I hate making plans. I hate when people ask me to do something with them days in advance, even the day before, because it makes me feel trapped. What if the day comes and I don't feel like going? I hate bringing people along on trips because it means if I'm driving east and in the middle of it I decide I want to go north, I might not be... by Pacific_Loner

I read an article some time ago about the difference (so the main idea of the article was that there is a difference) between being shy and being an introvert. More than shy, I'd rather consider myself an introvert :I never get bored by myself, I enjoy my own company more than the company of others.Of course there are moments when i actually... by simona

It's only a kidding thread, but it could be good to rant a bit. If there would be an Armagedonn, who would you save? Bruce Willes doesn't count for obvious reasons, he is the one who has to make the sacrified and I have heard that he is a Psychopath. Discuss! :) by April72

Avoidants use to avoid looking for help and seek any kind of therapy or going to the psychiatrists bc they find very hard to trust someone enough to open them up to another person and tell about the most prívate stuff. I went to a therapist for the first time when I was in a desperate situation. I couldn't cope with my issues on my own. It... by April72
