Career struggles

Well I am currently a college student. The past 2 years I took a course to learn more about career options and it gave me many openings and helped give me some marks in areas I didn't have good marks in. This year I decided to upgrade my maths for programming. But now I'm not sure that's the right idea, I've literally changed my mind 30 times. I just don't know what I want. So I think the best option for me would be to take time off of school and work. I'm going to finish my upgrading to grade 11 math then I'm going to move on from school.

Any tips on what I should do?

Incoming stream of consciousness.

I'm a graduating college student with a major in something computer-y and business-y. I don't hate it but it's hardly a passion. When I visualize the future I see Office Space and Dilbert.

I'd like to say, "I should've followed my dreams." Problem is I never really wanted to do anything else. I literally don't have a clue as to whether or not what's about to happen is the best or worst of all possible worlds.

All that to say that I can't point you in the right direction. All I can do is remind you that you're not alone. Others like myself are just as confuddled.

Do you have any real passions? Let's start there, actually.

I like arts, writing, and video games.

I like arts, writing, and video games.

I've found that interest in something doesn't always mean that the thing would make a good career. I love playing video games, but I'm not sure I wan't to make them. I find philosophy interesting, but I'm not chock full of original ideas. I can write pretty well, but I tend not to bother. In short, I consume stuff but I don't create much.

Do you enjoy those things passively as I tend to, or do you feel that you might have the proper combination of ability and interest?

I enjoy a lot of things and it makes it hard to narrow it down. Also sometimes I say I want to do this or that but then I change my mind.
