hey rado31..not sure how coffee, caffeine affect me either...but i've wondered it many times. I should really try to give it up for a couple of weeks..for me it's difficult, as i work in a busy coffee shop..surrounded by coffee and tea

The problem with me coffee is it does (only slightly) increase my anxiety, but i need it to help me have the energy to even leave the house so... its neither good or bad in my situation.

Caffeine

I'm on several meds that clear my head and let me think straight but make me sleepy. I've found that a moderate amount of caffeine helps me stay alert. It probably doesn't help what remaining anxiety I have, but it keeps me wide awake enough to enjoy living.

(I drink two cups of half-caff in the morning and maybe a caffeinated soda or cup of tea in the afternoon. Sometimes I'll slip the strong stuff -- a small latte!-- into the morning as well.) (Eep! I just remembered that I take the remainder of the pot of half-caff to work with me and can finish one to two more large cups of that at the office. My, how easy it is to drink too much!)

I don't drink coffee, but I love tea, I drink about four cups a day, although, if you ever come near me with earl grey tea, I will turn my nose up and run away.....*emma runs away* :p

coffee or tea makes me edgy and fidgety and generally more anxious and makes me shake easier. I guess stimulants are bad for your nerves.

Hi

I find that when I'm fairly relaxed tea and coffee don't have much affect on my anxiety.

When I'm stressed tho, say if I'm anxious about going out to meet friends, going to a crowded pub or if under pressure to meet time constraints, coffee in-particular sends my anxiety through the roof.

Social Anxiety as I'm sure everyone can attest to, can make you very tired, so I'm always tempted to drink coffee to wake myself up, but really it only stimulates me in exactly the place where I don't need it. In those situations I need to relax.

Yesterday's caffeine post got me going... I set about this week with a firm proposal in mind to to go for a week with no cofski, and see what happens.

PLEASE HELP ME!

I managed a fat brek of bacon, eggs, cheese, mustard, tomatoes and onions, on the McD's principle, before a drink. Now I'm set, but I have muffins in the fridge, and I might have to rinse out the cafetiere! I have a lot of tablets to swallow!

At my worst ever job interview on Friday, I got there an hour early, desperate for cofski. I thought going into an interview as a zombie would be reckless. I grabbed a Starbucks (1st ever) and it gave me quite a humpff. Maybe that messed up the chat with English boss, and German and two Ameeeeeriiiicaaaaaaaaans on a conference call. Bewildered head

HEY!!

I got a good idea!!

Quitting my caff would get me a perfect job. Maybe it's been ruining me - but aside from that - I have a HUGE hangup about having to make coffee & tea rounds in the office!!! I even make my own, being rude not to do others! Now, I can use it an excuse to say "oohhh I decided to never drink any caffeine ever again!" so I'm all comfy!!!

They might force me to again, anyway

How long does it take for swallowing a big mug of strong coffee to get to your head? And how long to make it's way out of your head?

And the same question for pills, and beers, wine, or whiskey??

I probably drink 3 to 4 cans of coffee a day, i've tried tempering down, but it got the wrong effect on me in that it made me even more stressed, perhaps that's normal when you try to come down from these enormous amounts, but there's one more reason why i stick to drinking way too many coffee.
