Deal with the Devil

I was listening to a radio show last night where people called in who made "Deals with the Devil"

I was wondering how many people here would consider such a thing to get rid of their issues.

To be popular, get sex or money or fame...would you?

No I wouldn't. I survived this long already. And it wouldn't last forever anyway.

There's the idea that the concept for the devil came from the nature god Pan - nothing else to add to that

If heaven and hell did really exist, would you want to spend eternity with a bunch of bible-thumping, bearded dullards and listening to harp music? that would be my idea of hell

popular, get sex or money or fame...none of these entice

You want to know how I got these scars?

Yea, imagine that for all eternity you sit around on a fluffy cloud with a bajillion people all singing the same version of Kumbaya..

I might've made a deal with the devil if it meant I could've met Raquel Welch aka Lilian Lust. Peter Cook made a great devil in the movie bedazzled.

Honestly the Devil would be pretty bored with my tame desires and vices. "You want to go and photograph wildflowers?" "You want to drink lots of Pepsi Max?" "How about something really wicked?"

Nope.

By definition it's a bad idea, since whatever joy or happiness I received in the short term wouldn't be worth the final cost.

I think Pan was just demonized at some point and used as an artistic interpretation of the Devil its not the actual origin. He was just basically supposed to be a representation of everything wrong with mankind. Since we rarely like to take responsibility for our actions lol.

As for me no. If the devil were real enough to deal with then that would mean a Christian god is real, and Id prefer not to get involved in their lovers spat.
