Do other people's moods affect you?

Other people's moods affect me deeply. I can't even stand my own mother, despite the fact that she is the most important person in my life. I'm very happy, calm and confident when I'm entirely alone. I'm so "introverted" that I could easily spend all my life in one room without feeling bored whatsoever, as long as I'm alone. Also, finally I managed to get over my obsession over having a partner. I realize that I just couldn't stand anyone :p

Yep, this happens to me all the time! If someone is negative around me I get nervous and feel negative aswell. If someone is complaining about being tired around me I start feeling worn out, and the same as flakeybark, if someone is in a bad mood around me or is acting differently around me, I get convinced they're mad at me or disappointed with me.

Yes! That's exactly how I feel, well said kayelle....
When I see someone looking gloomy, angry, anxious, negative (or whatever) I SUDDENLY feel extremely bad and anxious! I also assume that it must be my fault..

Yeah im like that aswell,I think alot of us are very sensative to others people mood, and were kinda like sponges in a way because we can soak up what other people are feeling.Specialy negative vibes.

yea I read about this once....can't remember the details now but it's a natural human thing....i.e. when you see someone elatedly hopping and dancing all over the place, it makes you feel happy....or when someone enters a room in a bright and breezy confident mood it can lift everybody elses spirits.

But this is something I worry about sometimes, cause I worry about those times when a sombre mood will fall upon me and I worry I'm gonna bum everybody else out....I often feel it's better for everyone if I just leave.

but then again, saying that, I often feel a lot more comfortable around moody depressive types of people than the happy clappy folk.....so I dunnooo?!

Yes i do find that other peoples mood affects me, especially someone close like my mother.

Yes, I think that's one reason being around my kids is good for me- they're usually happy, full of energy, etc. and it makes me happier to spend time with them. I get a little depressed when they're not with me. But in general when people's moods are extreme or obvious they tend to rub off on me. I just hope I'm not bringing anybody down with mine.
