Do you ever find yourself going out of your way to avoid large crowds?

I always eat my lunch/dinner "dunch" between 2-4 at my university cafeteria. There are barely any people there and so I can eat my meal without feeling like people are staring at me for being alone. It's actually kind of funny, because almost everybody who eats during those hours is also eating alone. Maybe they all have social anxiety as well? lol

What about you?

U wish so : P I eat at home, alone. If there's anyone with SA here (appart me) don't see them : P

I thought I was the only one who did this. When I have to eat, I do it in the car or when the university cafeteria is not as full. If it is full I seat as far from the crowd as possible.
Today I did something to avoid the crowd again, I wanted to go for a walk and excersice this morning so I went to park near home, but I saw a bunch of people training so I got sort of scared and went out of there. I had to drive to another park, which by the way was full also, but I felt more comfortable there. Dont know why...

It depends on the crowd I hate shopping centres, but I'm fine sports crowds and big fun run with up to about 70000 people in them.

Yeah, definitely agreed with this. It depends on the kind of crowd. Shopping centres are woeful and I try to avoid going there as much as I can, as I really dislike the whole experience.

Sports crowds are different. I expect to be near people, touching people, so I know what I'm in for. Same for nightclub/pub crowds.

Gig crowds are something I'm enjoying less and less, though. Because I listen to heavy metal, the people at these venues are about 95% male and everyone wants to be heard and there's simply too much testosterone. I have been nearly bashed at one gig because of one man who was trying to start a fight with everyone. It makes me want to see my favourite bands more difficult to encounter and I am more reluctant to go to these things.

I know how ya feel, Mikey. I feel the same about heavy metal gigs. Not that I go to alot of them anymore - only bands I really like, and are worth seeing live (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Machine Head, for example).

Yeah, it's tough, eh? Although I did see Metallica live when they came to Australia in 2010 and they ruled.

Last metal gig I went to was New Year's Eve in Melbourne and we saw Blood Duster. One of the bands were rude idiots and the mosh got violent, and during Blood Duster I witnessed a fight where someone got punched in the face. I have to shake my head and wonder why all this needs to happen.

I know. But some so-called "fans" just seem to show up at metal gigs only to get drunk, cause a fight and get thrown out - sometimes during the opening act. And with regards to the moshpit, I think more bands should at least caution the audience not to get to out of hand. But, then again, it usually the drunken idiots at metal gigs that are more likely to start fights.

I ALWAYS ate alone at school. Not bc i was too shy to be in crowds, but bc my schedule was TERRIBLE, and didn't coincide with any of my roommates/friends. And, we were all too stubborn to wait for the other person to finish class, lol.

Well, I used to eat lunch with my girlfriend after our classes (and we'd find a spot where just us two can eat alone, but if we couldn't I didn't mind eating in a crowd if she was with me) But this semester she moved with her family to go to the university there. I now skip eating until I go home which is a few hours before dinner. So I don't eat much dinner with my family - which makes me hungry later - which I gained myself back 8 pounds that I was so proud to lose.

Dark, I do same thing all the time. I always feel so stupid when I decide I don't want to go down an isle, or wont sit there because someone else is there ect.
I go out of my way so much just not to have to interact with people...It's kinda sad.

I do the exact same thing, if I eat at all for a lunch/dinner, I just eat between 2-4. Also, less lines are a nice plus.

That also gives me a possibility to find a small table all to myself with an outlet nearby so I can use my laptop (especially if it's a seat where it's at an angle where no one can hardly see me let alone what I'm specifically browsing!), because there are less people in the area.

At school, not all of the time. I do enjoy being around people, but I don't enjoy when I'm not having any fun with them. Out of school, yes. If someone ever asked me to hang out, I would just put it off because I'm too scared too and would make a fool out of myself.
