Do you like it?
What's the good things and bad things about living there?

I don't call it home, but it is the coast I know, and I have grown to enjoy it in recent times. I love the nature and coastline here, not so much the town itself or its people, it is a safe national party seat. There is a bushland trail that runs along the creek in town, where I go running and exploring. I know all the headlands and beaches and enjoy photographing sunrises and sunsets. It is very hot and humid in summer which I haven't got used to. In some ways it is an unhappy place for me, it is where I developed a mental illness and have gone through years of an
xiety, ill health and knee pain

I do like it here.

I'd prefer not to state exactly wear. Just in the US.

Good things: Not a lot of people.

Bad things: Not really anything bad I can say. Though I am sure someone else could say something bad, I prefer to stay positive.

A small town on the South African highveld. Cold and dry in winter, warm and mostly dry in summer. 5 minute commute to work, and centrally located within one hour's drive of two of the biggest cities in South Africa. That is the nice bit.

The bad: poverty all around, incompetent illiterate officials, high crime rates.

No I don't like my living situation at all, in fact I think it's the biggest reason I'm depressed.

I live with my dad (considering my age that's not ideal)
He is an alcoholic (I almost never see him sober, unless it's just stores aren't selling alcohol yet)
He is a terrible slob (as in spitting snuff in the sink or cutting raw meat on the counter and not cleaning it)
Even my best paying job payed my to little to live on my own (and one time they decided I was payed for hours I didn't work and docked me the amount of hours I was paid to make up for it resulting in getting a .67 cent paycheck for two weeks of work).
I live in a small country town in Texas (I have a huge fear of grasshoppers so this makes it way worse)
Our A/C went out a few years ago so we have window units which are irritatingly loud and in my opinion make us look way too white trash for my taste
Our lawn is a disaster, some of the weeds are a couple feet tall, I'm not too lazy to do it, but I just don't want to do it during the summer (remember my fear of grasshoppers)
Parts of the linoleum inside the house are still missing from some repairs we had to make....from at least three years ago
Dad eats my food (I'm very picky about what I eat so I buy specific things, he'll eat anything)
I got a mini fridge for my room to keep my food separate from his, but he'll go to my room to grab my food anyway
We've been having a bit of a gnat problem recently
I also hate having to travel 25 minutes through pothole infested dirt roads to get anywhere
I hate that my beautiful Dodge Challenger is losing its shocks due to the potholes, and that it's covered in dust 90% of the time
I hate that I live kind of nearby a farm (one time a few animals got out, put a small dent in the side of the house and crapped all over our yard)
I hate hearing **** *** neighbors ride their 4X4's up and down the street all the time (even though it's mostly on weekends they do it all day)
We dont really have a shed or anything so our riding lawnmower just sits out side all the time and gets rained on causing it to break very often

This is probably the biggest reason I want a girlfriend, not just due to general loneliness, but the idea that if things went well we could move in together and I would be much, much happier.
Typing this out I think my dad is the single biggest, or maybe the only reason I'm super depressed.

Geographically, yes!

Politically, no hell no. This state is all-but-bankrupt for a huge leftist reason and the brainwashed granolas are too ignorant to consider that something might be back-asswards about their ways. This is where "progression" leads.

I live in Texas. The area where I live is called Rio Grande Valley, but people here knows it as just "The Valley". The valley sucks. During the summer's the weather's hot. There's not much to do here. The only thing that's interesting about here is the beach.

Overall its OK. But I dream of moving to somewhere greener and cooler :)

I live in Curitiba.
It's rather clean and organized for a big metropolis in latin america, but people here aren't very friendly, there are even jokes about people from here not talking to strangers.

I live in Texas too, in Denton (north of Dallas), yeah the heat has been getting absurd the past few years, I want to move up north, like on the border of Canada....or hell, actually in Canada.

I just moved to a city to live on my own for the first time. I live in Zwolle, The Netherlands. I am very happy with the place that I live in. Very open minded people and lots of nature. But I still wanna go outside EUrope, because I love travelling!

North Carolina. The area I live in is called the "triangle", cause the three cities form a triangle, or something like that. At any rate, its got a crap load of stores and restaurants,so that's nice. The only problem is that everything is spread out so without a car or don't know how to drive (that's me!), you're screwed. Thankfully at least my job is within walking distance. The weather is nice during the fall, but the summers are really humid. Overall, its okay.

No I can't stand it.. But where you going to go, where you going to hide ?

I am greateful I don't live in the war torn Middle East or North Africa, I am very comfortable here. But have nobody to talk to, no frinds, no family, nobody cares if I live or die... 8 years in isolation and no hope of any change, except that threat to Drown my whole Country in BLOOD !!

No I don't like it here, but where oh where is there to go ?

^ That's awesome. Very proud of you, Falkor! I, too, just moved to a city to live on my own for the first time. Well, I'm not completely independent since I live with someone, but I'm truly apart from my parents for the first time. It's been nice. I don't love where I live, but I'm liking it better than living with my parents. I admit though, I miss the country. I can't believe I'm saying that, but I do. Living in a rural area was never the problem. My living situation was the problem.

This is the biggest reason I'd want a boyfriend too. I really don't even like the idea of being in a relationship right now but I really want to get away from here and I feel that's the only way I have a chance. I have dated before and it's really bad that I stayed with guys I really didn't like much just because they provided me with a place to get away from where I live.

I hate where I live so much. It's a big part of my depression. Just going for a walk in my neighborhood makes me want to cry. I live in a really bad part of Los Angeles.
The people around here are just so horrible and violent.
Constant noise of police cars and helicopters going by every single day.
There's soooo much stupid graffiti everywhere.
The streets around here are so dirty and smells like trash. I hate having to walk anywhere around here. I have witnessed my neighbors drop trash on the sidewalk right in front of their own house. It left me speechless. There's several neighbors that have constant trash piles right in front of their house and they just don't care about living in trash. I don't understand it.

I also live with my parents which is not ideal.

Shellharbour City, NSW, Australia. Take a guess at the actual suburb, haha.

I like it here. My suburb is not the best but I can still walk down the street and not get hassled. It's right on the beach which is perfect for those warm days, plus it's driving distance to Wollongong, the closest "large" city to me, and Sydney, Australia's largest city. The job market is not so great here but I have a job and the area is nice so I'm not complaining.

Despite some of Australia's problems, I'm glad I live here. It's a first-world country with abundant supplies and some lovely weather (although a little less summer heat would be nice). I thank my lucky stars I'm here instead of living in Saudi Arabia or Iraq or Ukraine or Senegal or somewhere with war or famine on a daily basis.

I live in Canada in a province called Prince Edward Island. It's the smallest province, has no job opportunities, doesn't do anything to help with mental health (we had a guy thrown in a mental institution for giving money to a homeless guy, I couldn't make this up), I was bullied throughout all my school life up to college, a psychologist asked me if I had the devil in me when I told him I hear voices in my head, we have a high amount of drug use, I live in the middle of no where so its always pitch black which I hate, but I also hate cities cause they cause me anxiety, our biggest city has no skyscrapers and our second biggest is addicted to cocaine and in such bad bankruptcy that stores close 4 weeks after opening. I hate where I live but I can't picture living somewhere else because I have to much anxiety.

Sorry to hear that, I'm lucky to live in an area with minimal crime, but I live with my dad who is a drunken slob. The place is falling apart, some areas of the house have no linoleum, he does things like cut meat on the counter (not on anything, just the counter), spits snuff in the sink.
And worst of all to me, is that while I love the quiet of the country, I have a huge fear of bugs (grasshoppers and wasps specifically), so summer is awful for me.
