Do you really push yourself as much as you should?

After reading a lot of threads here and seeing that a lot of people stay in thier rooms or houses and only venture out when they really have to, i was wondering wether or not you think you push yourself enough. I know its easier to stay in but how many of you are actually using your SP as an excuse not to do anything at all?...Surely not pushing yourself will lead to deeper depression.
I myself push myself to go out at least 3 times a day, though after having SP for 18 years i suppose its not as bad as it used to be for me but for those who who have not had it long it must be quite hard trying to get up the courage to go out and about.
So, are you one of those people that stay in your room and do not try at all or do you push yourself to do things...even if you fail a few times its still worth trying.

i push myself not to avoid anything and since i've been doing that i feel more comfertable sitting in the living room with my room mate

i still have a long way to go though, i'm thinking of canceling my internet acount so less time will be faded away by my pc that i could use to concentrate on ovecomming sa.
i believe motivation is the key and my pc is not helping

Hey, Glad your getting comfortable with sitting with someone, its a good start. It gets easier the more you do it I reckon.
As for the Pc thing, that might be a great idea if you think you spend too much time here, what do you plan to do instead?

that's a good question

i'm not planning anything yet but without the internet i would have more time to focus more on overcomming SAD, praticing how to cope and everything else that comes with it. now often times the internet keeps me from doing everything that i can to overcome SAD.

i feel i'm not doing everything i can because of it.

i talked to somone on these forums a while ago who has overcome SAD. he had very serious SA, much worse then i do yet he totaly overcame SA in a year. i believe his succes whas the result of a a lot of motivation to overcome wich i can imagine if you're so far down. all or nothing.

Motivation is very much the problem with me. Change I find is a good motivator, but I get over it in a few weeks so it's slow going.
