No I love Winter. It's my favorite time of year.

I should add that I have to work in the heat during summer. So I kind of resent the Australian summer.

I agree I love winter, and definitely resent the Australian heat.

I can see the aspect of it that makes it depressing for some people, especially people with seasonal depression. But I find a comfort in the cold, and I actually experienced snow for the first time and it was the most magical experience of my life. :giggle:

I used to, but I think that's a reflection of my state of mind. I'd spend months waiting for Summer but then Summer wouldn't be as exciting as I thought because my state of mind was poor. It's not that I prefer Winter (I'd much rather have constant Spring + Summer), but you really have no choice but to find things you like about every season, since every season is inevitable.

i love winter. though im also odd and my favorite days are days most would describe as dreary or gloomy.
everything is sparkly in the winter, no leaves on trees, no bugs, no misearable heat. there's hot tea and cocoa, lots of baking, good food, warm fuzzy socks, sweaters, scarves, and boots, huddling under blankets, pretty lights, no one judges you for staying inside all the time...

though some of winter sucks with heating bills, snow shoveling, and dangerous roads when you do need to go out...

I like the cold. I like wood stoves, snow, hot toddy's, big warm sweaters, cuddling under lots of blankets, snow storms..I like inclement weather-rain, clouds, fog, snow storms etc...Hot, sunny weather is so friggin boring and oppressive to me. I am glad most people like it though since they can live in places like Florida and California and not move near me, since I don't like crowds :) Give me a rainy day and I am happy.

I love winter, I sleep better, summer humidity where I live is horrendous, I dread it each year. I really enjoyed this winter, going to beaches and headlands and there not being another soul around. Also the winter light was heaps better for photography. Late winter is when the first wildflowers begin to appear, wattles and boronias

I personally prefer winter over summer, but every time winter comes I do notice that I get more depressed, I don't know why but maybe because a past experience that happened during winter or maybe because of all the stress that's focused when it comes to this season. But aside from that, I am more of a winter person, I like the cold and quietness more than the hot weather. Pretty strange but that's just me..

There is a rhythm to life and to the seasons and it is good to listen to it.

Wintertime I take much slower, and summer is a time for growth.

I love winter. No unbearable hot weather, no humidity, no violent storms, and no need to worry about hurricanes. I sleep much better, my anxiety is about half of what it is in summer, and I can go on long walks without heating to death in the process. It's wonderful! I don't find it depressing at all.

Not for me at least. I love the cold. That feeling of cold wind is awesome. I love that you can layer up. I love that it gets dark early. I love seeing all the falling leaves blow in the wind.

I can think of two reasons why I feel this way:
  • I've lived my entire life in a hot and humid place. That makes winter special.
    \n
  • When I was a kid, that first gust of cold wind each year meant that Christmas was coming. While Christmas no longer sends me into a frenzy like it used to, those memories still linger. The sense that winter is coming still makes me feel that good things are coming and that I have something to look forward to.
Bring on the cold!

Ive been told to take vitamin D as it apparently can affect moods when low. Ive been depressed and needy as all hell lately and I wonder if it being night so early during Winter might be a cause. Im pretty sure things werent this bad over the Summer.

I hate the winter. I live in New England and the winters can be harsh. Last year I started taking vitamin D starting in November and it has seemed to help. It has helped me get out of bed and have a brighter attitude during the winter months. Usually I nap alot during the winter and become jealous of the animals who go into hibernation. Hibernation seems ideal to me.

Wow, so many people who like winter. I hate it, but I'm also biased because I have severe seasonal affective disorder in the winter. It gets so bad that some days I can't even get out of bed and I fall asleep while trying to get things done, even if I just slept for hours. In the winter I always have no energy, am exhausted, and my depression is at its worst. I hate the cold, I hate how it gets dark so early, I hate the snow and how it makes everything wet, and I hate how nothing has colour and everything's dead. I feel happiest on days that are hot, bright and sunny, with vibrant blue sky, bright green grass, blossoming plants and trees, and lots of bright, vivid colours in nature. Winter is hell for me.

And lol all you Australians I would gladly trade places with you! I am Canadian and I really want to move to Australia because its hot all the time and doesn't snow. You guys have it lucky, you are living my dream! I am sooo envious of Australians, I wish I could afford to move to Melbourne right this instant :(
