Does it go away with age?

I have been to two dermatologists for my hyperhidrosis, i have it in my hands, feet, and armpits. My hands are the worst though, and if I wanted to treat it anywhere, it would most definately be my hands. Anyways, something interesting I noticed is that both of them mentioned to me that they don't usually get people over 30 that have hyperhidrosis, and I was wondering what you guys think of this? Can any of you say that your sweating has improvated as you get older? I can say for one that I have noticed a very tiny improvement in controlling it, but thats only when I'm calm and alone. When I'm social situations, it acts up the most, but I was just wondering what you guys thought of this?

Same here...classic HH really.

Don't think it passes with age, the reason people over 30 with HH don't go to a doc is probably more likely to be that they've either given up or found something that works for them.

There are plenty of studies around from people in their 50s, 60s with HH, unfortunately. Wish it was different but it isn't. The notion that it goes away with age is just a fairytale medics use to either excuse themselves for not doing anything about it or a feeble attempt to make the patient feel better.

it won't go away with age -- why should it? do cancer go away with age? diabetes? NO, just realize that HH is a medical condition and it won't disappear just all of a sudden.

This a common myth concerning HH, and I have no idea what it springs from. Maybe someone start living of his pension and got less stressed and thereby sweating reduced -- just a guess.

My HH is inherited from both mother and father. They still sweat like crazy and my father sweat even more than me when we stand there soaked at a family barbecue in the summer. He is 58.

In my case, HH didn't really start until I was a fair age. Had some medical things which may have triggered it--who knows? I keep hoping to "grow out of it" too, but so far no luck.

amoone-- Well I went to that website. HH is not OCD. How would you imagine that information would help those who DO have hyperhidrosis? Just asking.

I've had palmar/plantar HH for as long as I can remember. One time in 6th grade... anyways, I'm 25 now and it's still just as strong as ever.

I use a homemade ionto device twice a week and that works 100% as long as I keep up with it. I won't be seeing a doc again for it, so that might be why older people don't see anyone for it. Either that or they just accept that there is no "cure," just treatment.

actually it does go away with age for some people. My dad had the same thing all the way up till 25/26 ish. His condition is worse than mine too. He had sweaty palms, feet, and armpits. But somehow he grew out of it. Hopefully that will happen to me too.
