Does your Birthday make you nervous?

My birthday always makes me really nervous. Your birthday puts you at the center of attention, which is a place I've always hated to be.

Last wednesday was my birthday and I really thought I was going to make it through the day without any embarassing incidents. I just started at a new school and I thought no one would know it was my birthday. I had almost made it to the end of the day, but in the last half hour the teacher asked me to put something away in another room and when I came back there was a cake on the table and everyone sang happy birthday to me.

I know that my classmates did it with good intentions, but this was the exact kind of situation I was hoping to avoid. I felt like running away but I just kind of stood there with a stunned look on my face (aswell as being terrified, I was also genuinely surprised) and mumbled a thanks to everyone.

aawww, that was really sweet. But i would be really embaressed and would sort of stand there with my heart thumping, and me going red trying to avoid the eyes of the people singing happy birthday if it happened to me. I don't like being the Centre of Attention too. :( But when i have my birthday, i don't really have a massive birthday, i just like to do something casual with my main family. I've never had a big birthday bash. I didn't even want one for my 18th birthday, and i'm planning on not wanting a big 21th birthday bash too.

No one ever does anything for my birthday anyway, so it doesn't mater. :(
For my sweet 16 last year, I went to see a movie - with my mom and my twin brother (I got to pick the movie at least - The Corpse Bride, and my brother kept complaining about it being a necrophiliac movie, lol). My friend did give me a present the day before at school though. I don't think anyone else even remembered it was my birthday, and I've been going to the same school all my life.

It's others' birthdays that can make me more nervous than mine (because of expectations - e.g. hugs & special attention expected, esp. in the presence of others showering them with the same). Similar reasons for my anxiety at weddings and such.

My best 'friends' seldom remember (or even know) my birth date.

I don't like my birthday. It reminds me that yet another year has passed with me still having SP.
