I wouldnt want people to know im a member and I dont want them to read my posts.. I feel this would put me in a vulernable position.

1. Parents and Family: I would never want them to know im here, they will not understand and I have a feeling they'd freak out.
2. Friends: No, they will judge me and probably will find it weird and some might even take advantage of that weakness.
3. Females and Girlfriends: Never as hell, they'd think im a man-child and that im timid, they'd even never want to be with a man that might have a slight hint of issues..
4. Doctors and people that experiment on us in this forum: Im sure as hell there are people doing it and using this forum for their experiments.. I think they'd should go to hell..

okay? I've checked the forum on school computers, I don't care. We all have problems in this world. Life is defined by what is wrong with us.

Yeah I don't want my family to know I'm on this forum. I think I cover my tracks well enough though so I don't worry about it. I only go on here with my computer that no one else uses or my phone. I use different usernames for other sites so they couldn't find it by searching that. There's not much chance that someone's gonna snoop around online and try to find out stuff about me anyway.

We can't be ashamed of having this problem if we are actively working to fix it.

This. Completely agree.

Me, I can't say that I'm really concerned. It would be a relief, almost, because then people would know that I never chose to be the way I am. : )

^ This. I don't want neither my family, nor my general friends (My best friend already knows I have SA, doesn't know about this site though, but I wouldn't hesitate to tell him if I wanted), to know I'm on here. I'm very good at covering my tracks, so unless someone really tries to snoop and hack into my stuff, they won't find a single thing. Plus, I don't use this username anywhere else but here and this is my computer that I'm using, and I'm basically the only person who uses it.

Obviously I'd rather people didn't know hence why I won't put my photos up in the Picture Thread or anything. But I think if a close friend was to come across this forum, if they read enough of my posts, I think they could develop suspicions as to who I am. But that would mean they're here too.

And a close friend hopefully wouldn't judge you anyway.

Really, if somebody was to find out and read every single one of my posts... yes I could be a bit embarassed, but its fact and its real. There are only one or two people who know I have anxiety problems. I never let on to anybody else so nobody can accuse me of seeking attention or anything. Perhaps if they read my posts they'd understand why I sometimes do the things I do. We can't be ashamed of having this problem if we are actively working to fix it.

Someone recently told me that she is very upfront with people she meets about having SA, as at least that means they have an explanantion for her behaviour rather than misinterpreting it as something else. This is actually an approach that had never really occurred to me, because I tend to feel that SA itself is something to be embarrassed about. I simply can't imagine myself telling someone (least of all a stranger) that I have SA. It made me wonder why I feel there is such a stigma attached to it. It's something I haven't yet been able to answer.

Yeah I'm the same way, I use incognito mode on my computer when I come on here so it doesn't show up on my browser history for this very reason.
Just curious, how do you do that anyway? What browser do you use?

at first when I read this I was like HELL YEAHHH! We are not lab rats!

butttt then I thought and figured if doctors are researching SA, that is a good thing. Most people with SA are probably not comfortable enough to tell doctors everything that SA makes them feel anyway. Hopefully if they do research this site, something good will come out of it. After all they are doctors, not just random people looking for a laugh...

I use google chrome, and when you right click it gives you the option to open in a new tab, a new window, or incognito window. That's how I do it, I'm not sure if there's an easier way about it or not.
^ Oh that's really interesting. I don't use Chrome though. I use Firefox.

If you're using Firefox, you can click on "Tools" then "Start Private Browsing" to do pretty much the same thing.
^ Oh I see. Never even knew it had that feature, and I'm supposed to be good at these things. Thanks much! :)

People dont understand... Whether they are close friends or family.. People judge you by who you are and what you do.. They are not inside your head so they'll never ever understand unless they have the same problem as you do... I dont trust people fully... You cannot...

My friends will find it as a weakness and take advantage of it oneday when the door open.. Telling people about it is like revealing your playing cards to everyone..
