Eeeewwww Germs Everywhere!!

Ok. I am starting to feel like I am germaphobic to an extreme.

So today I do my usual treatment like I always do at dialysis. I totally freaked out when the dialysis tech who worked on me suddenly and rudely took my headphones from my Ipod without asking and put it in his ear and another man's ear to test and see if they worked for his tv cause the man's own headphones were not working. I got so pissed off that when I left I almost forgot to take one of my bags. My Daddy always puts the blame on me and says that I should not have left out my headphones when they aren't being used and had it tucked away in my purse. I am so mad at the tech and the man next to me. I don't know what that man has going on in his ears, as well as the tech. If I was like my sisters and that tech had tried to do that crap to them they woulda said, "Heeeeeeelllll nah!" (Exaggerating the word "Hell"). I cleaned my headphones to the best of my ability with alcohol wipes and soap.

So how would any of you react to this?

Don't worry. I'm sure your immune system will deal with germs. Anyway, as long as you cleaned your headphones you've got nothing to worry.

Yeah. I guess you're right. But I am worrying cause my immune system is not normal. I have lupus AND I have to take Prednisone to combat the lupus. Both lupus and Prednisone weaken my immune system to the highest degree. So I do fear for that. And I don't think I am worried about getting sick as I am about getting contaminated. My headphones were kinda like my little virgins.....now they have lost their virginity to the ears of two different men. The thought of it makes me wanna scream.

I did, Falloutboy .

I told the manager and he said he will talk to that tech and make sure it never happens again. I wish I would have said something to the tech myself at the moment just to show him that I did not appreciate what he did.

At the very least I would've verbally berated both of them and told them to keep their hands off my stuff unless they want to get slapped. I can't deal with some random person just grabbin my stuff. It's rude and it's disrespectful. Not to mention, in this case, dirty. In my book that'd be like blowing your nose on a napkin and handing it to a stranger. Just flat out rude.

Yeah! I am with you all the way, Pal! I feel like they licked a spoon I was using and handed it right back at me. I was raised to be very modest, humble, and polite and that if I don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all. But that truly backfires
on me because people will see that as a sign of weakness and will take advantage of you in the boldest ways. I really hate the fact that the tech who did it was a guy I shared my faith with. I will never look at him the same way again. And he is probably mad at me because I reported what he did to the manager over the phone. But I don't care. I just don't want him touching my things or any of the other people there ever again! If it happens again, I am going to jail for attempted man slaughter! >_<

I totally agree with and understand what you're saying. Just reading what happened made me imagine myself in your situation and I can see myself going after the tech verbally at the very least before even realizing I was doing it. It's an automatic response with me that the combination of germs and disrespect brings out. That said, it's done now and no amount of washing will undo your feeling whenever you use your headphones. Better to replace them even if that seems irrational to most. Peace of mind is worth the price of a new set of earphones.
