Exciting and nerve-wracking news

So I really wanted to share my news because I'm really excited but also scared out of my wits! A few months ago I applied for what's called a nannyship, it's where you live in the home of a family and take care of their children plus some odd house chores, etc. Well I applied for two one in England and another in America (I'm Australian so I picked countries that spoke the same language just Incase I was accepted). Anyway turns out I was accepted for positions in both countries! I was shocked and so excited and nervous! Today I finally made the choice that I am leaving all I have ever known, my family, everything and in approximately 9 months I'm moving to America for an entire year at the minimum!

Of course I'm really excited, I've always known I wanted to travel and experience new things, and this is a huge thing for me. I'm not going to know people, everything will be different and so nervous! But so excited! I am looking forward to it though, there's still heaps to organize before I can go but still I'm actually going overseas! It's unbelievable, it's just wow... I think I'm a little in shock, this is just amazing.

I always say to people live life by the oh wells not the what ifs. It's about time I learnt to take some of my own advice, so I jumped all in :giggle: OH MY GOSH! Scary and exciting, I can and can't wait at the same time. Just wow.

Sounds great! I did the same years ago, and it was a very exciting time for me. It wasn't always easy to live with the family that I worked for, but I'm glad I got to experience a new country for a whole year. It was truly a great adventure.

That sounds like something I would do if I didn't have kids of my own. I am so excited for you! It will be interesting to see where you end up in the US as there are so many different areas.

Yeah it is! I really love kids, I have done a few different things with various age groups and really enjoy it. No, I haven't ever been away from Australia, I've never even been in a plane. It will be a new experience.

Not yet, it is done through a company so they give you offers for different countries and then you pick one. Then there's interviews, background checks, passport stuff, letters for potential host families, references, etc. Then they find a family that suits and you find out. It's a long process, for now all I know is the stuff I have to organize and have and that it start with a for day orientation in New York, so yeah.

Yeah, although it will be an adjustment going from 40 degrees here in summer to winter over there, and I have to learn to drive again over there. That will be interesting,
