Exercise Log

Jaim, sometimes the results of exercise are better revealed by measurements inches off hips and waist than by measurement on pounds on scales.

8km Forsyth Park. Didn’t sleep well, I was sweating all over. Rain fell in the middle of the night. It was overcast, the grass wet from rain. I ran with more energy. Perhaps the motivation is returning.

10.2km Running is cathartic. My thoughts troubled me all the way today, couldn't outrun them. But I can still run that is a constant. The world can scream a chorus of disapproval at me, but it can't take running away.

I forgot I had made this thread. Long time.

Just did 45min worth of cardio (stationary bike + elliptical), but I should have done muscle work before cardio, because I just lack the energy for it afterwards. Feels good. Only problem is keeping it a regular thing.

My exercise today was cutting up trees with a chainsaw, picking up the pieces, carrying them, etc.

8km run, my first since Saturday. My life can seem to be going to shit, but I can still run.

Saturday Forsyth Park 8km. Cooler autumn mornings. Finally I need to cover myself with a sheet in bed, in the early morning hours, as the air cools. A soft blue sky only a few very high clouds moving quickly through. Purple-flowered Tiboucina trees dotted along Coffs Harbour Streets. Cricket season is still going, a big crowd had gathered around the facilities block. Perhaps to celebrate last game, or the grand final. I hope so. Running is hard, my back was stiff, I'm cruising slowly. I can still run and that has to be a good thing.

This is a bit off-topic, but I believe you said you meditate in addition to running? Do you find that meditation works better before or after running?

I've been trying to learn to meditate, and it seems like meditating works better if I haven't exercised and I haven't eaten yet. I'm curious if that is your experience? (I mean cardio exercise. I have noticed that stretching to eliminate pain first makes the meditation seem more effective.)

BTW: My idea of meditation "working" is getting my mind to quiet and simply observe. That is very hard for me.

8km still getting out there running.

Missed your post Nothingmuch.

I think meditation works better after I have finished running. Running puts me into a peaceful state of mind. I enter an elemental state of mind, a desire to rest, to drink, to eat.

Often after a run I feel a good tiredness, and will have a siesta.

wow nice one kiwong Ive been doing short 4.5 km runs in the evenings (exam season) but I think I havent been getting enough protein/hydration/sleep to be going out running every night. Lay awake half the night feeling awful last night, took a break today and feeling grand again.

Thanks Joule. 4.5km on a regular basis would be good for stress relief and fitness. Glad you have recovered with rest.

At the moment I take a two hour nap after my longer runs it knocks my energy levels around.

Wow. An exercise log is a great idea. What with recording on a forum where people might read it and you will get constantly reminded to exercise. I am now going to start one.

Thank you Kiwong for your great idea. Though it probably isn't your idea i think you should take credit since it was probably someone in 543BC that first started one.
