Avril Lavigne seems quite shy. I remeber seing her presenting an award at a show with Kelly Osbourne, Kelly was all cool, making jokes and stuff, Avril couldnt say anything, she was like stunned. Till then i payed more attention to her, and she look quite self concious when she has to talk, but when performing shes fine.

awkward or WHAT!

From that video I think I can see it too..
I felt really bad for her,
but just look at the comments..
They`re saying she was rude, and stuck up
That`s probably far from the truth :?

They missed out Emily Bronte. Probably all the Bronte sisters, but especially Emily.

And I think, if you read her biography, it sounds like Janet Frame (New Zealand author) had social phobia too.

I would doubt it.

Famous people need public exposure which would require all the social qualities that normally a social phobic lacks.

I'm talking about people in the entertainment world.

Maybe authors or scientists could become famous and have social anxiety. But not actors, singers, comedians ect...

Yeah, that's true. Still, do you know of any famous authors, scientists or billionaires with Social Phobia?

Everyone suffers from Social Anxiety at one point or another, famous or not. It's how we react to it that makes the difference. Famous people, from so much exposure, become more 'immune' to it bit by bit.

iam not sure about their SA severity

"SA" is either Aprergers or PTSD. Famous people with it was supposed to be Aprergers/Autistic are Einstein or Isaac Newton .

There are no celebrities with it for sure.

I'd be curious to know whether celebs with SA were always like that, or if it was brought on after they became famous- it seems like being in the spotlight, feeling like you always have to look and act "perfect" could skew a person's emotional well being and views of the world. I know for people who have autism, that is pretty much there at birth, but it would seem to me that if the famous people had SA before they became famous (especially actors/comedians/models), then they likely would not have been able to become famous. Also, I believe some of these people may just be shy- which I don't think necessarily equates to SA. I think for shy people, SA just amplifies it. And some people with SA may not be innately shy/introverted- they may want to break out and interact with a lot of people, but just may be too afraid or just don't know how.

I don´t believe there are any shy celebrities - at least in the entertainment industry. If they really were, they wouldn´t choose such job in the first place. But of course they might have mild anxiety at times or even panic attack, but that could be triggered by drugs or who knows what, it´s not really shyness.

No Donny Osmond really did have it. Whether he would have surfaced if or if he was not an entertainer, we won't be able to know for sure. But he said he experienced it, especially during performances, which all of us on here probably hate public speaking. I know there really ARE celebs who have it. I really don't think Tom Hanks or Carrie Underwood or Brad Pitt have it.. I see Carrie as being kind of shy, but she is confident and I dont see her having SA. It's possible for anyone who actually cares about people to have it, IMHO
