It's just not Christmas without a box of See's chocolates! I usually get a few boxes for others, but have my own private box where I can take a bite out of each piece and then put it back if I don't want to finish it!

I also love this Finnish bread my mother makes for the holidays each year - one of those braided loafs that is so delicious!

Do you have a special holiday food favorite?

Sugar cookies are always a holiday thing with my family. My mom makes a big batch every year, decorates them and then takes about half of them to put into goodie bags for people she knows. It's never Christmas around here until my mom starts baking. ::p: It's not Christmas for me until I start baking either.

For holiday dinner, we always have something Italian and with seafood. We try to have different dishes each year too. So good! :D

Lucky folks who get some of your mom's sugar cookies! My fave Christmas cookies are raspberry thumbprints and pecan snowballs - yum! I'm going to try my hand at baking red velvet whoopie pies this year - something different!

I grew up with an Italian grandmother and we always had some sort of pasta at every holiday meal. She loved to cook and made the absolute best sauce I've ever tasted!

Sounds like there's going to be some good eats at your house!

Yes, both are cake-ish, a good xmas pudding is cooked by being wrapped in cloth and boiled, hung up for a while (weeks?) then reheated and served hot. I think pudding can refer to the sweet course at the end of the meal, hence the confusion, good thread :)
Interesting! I had no idea about it being a boiled cake - never heard of such a thing. Will have to give it a try if I can find some!

Chocolate coated sultanas.
The good ones are expensive and I only get them for Christmas. Yummmm.:)
I've not heard of sultanas, so googled 'em. Sounds like what we refer to as raisins. Chocolate raisins are one of my favorites! Love the dark chocolate ones.

^ There always is during this time of year! Since it's just us this year, anyone here can come over for the holidays. :D We always have plenty of food.

We traditionally have pot roast most Christmas Eves. This year is the first year I am responsible for making it! Eek!

Can I say pizza? I love pizza in Christmas too :D

But the day after Christmas it's a Catalan tradition to eat cannelloni (canelons de Sant Esteve(St. Stephen's Day)) and I love it!

Mmmmmmmm - nothing like a good pot roast dinner! I'm sure you'll do fine with cooking it. Let us know how you do! Kinda makes me want to break out the ol' crock pot and cook some myself!

I agree - any day is a good day for pizza! And cannelloni - don't get me started! Love it!!!

My mother will be making a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and then we'll do some baking! Hoping there will be leftovers 'cause I love me some turkey sandwiches!

I really enjoy hearing about everyone's traditional holiday foods! I suppose it's because food was always a big part of our holiday gatherings growing up. My granny was the best cook ever and I miss all of the delicious food she made.

Thanks! My family informed me today that I didn't have enough meat, so I went out and got a second roast today, and I'm doing a trial run tonight--I just now put it in the oven! I'll let you all know how it turned out in about, oh...four hours or so. :)

How did the pot roast come out? I bet it was delish!

I didn't take pics, but my whoopie pies were actually edible!
