Finally Found a working Soloution to HH.

Hi,
Im actually not here to find a soloution or seek help. I've joined because I found a soloution to a problem thats dominated my life for over 25 years and wanted to share it.
Since my late teens I started perspiring profusely from under my arms. I was probably about 19 when it started. I wasn't sure why it started. I did a temp job in a factory and thought maybe the degreasing chemicals had affected me. But what did I know. In the 1980's you couldn't get access to ask people.
So for decades I would try to hide my sweating problem. I'd carry antiperspirant with me everywhere. Many times per day i'd hide in a toilet cubicle and pat my underarms dry with tissue paper. And use the paper to dry out my clothes. I'd have to wear a white t-shirt under my office shirt so it hid the sweating. After i'd dry myself i'd wait until the toilet was empty before using the hand dryer to dry the underarms of my clothes.
When I went out I could only wear black T-Shirts as this hid the sweat patches more. I'd also carry spare T-Shirts and often pop into a toilet to use wipes to wash underarm, apply more deodorant, and put on a new T-Shirt. I'd buy 3 of the same t-shirt so nobody would know.
I tried cognative therapy, medication like Pro Banthine, getting drunk before going out so I wouldnt care. Nothing really helped.
Pro Banthine had some effect but is a harsh drug. It wouldnt work if I had something to eat. And the dryness to my mouth made me need gum to chew and to drink constantly. Also, it was only effective for a few hours.
I'd previously tried Driclor underarm but may not have used it correctly. I tried it a few times but treated it like a deodorant and was not impressed as it burnt a bit. ETS surgery was also suggested but it sounded too dangerous and the side effects could be sweating more profusely from other areas I'd heard.
About 5 months ago I spoke to my GP again about HH. He suggested I visit hyperhidrosisuk.org where I saw the IONTOPHORESIS treatments and thought the more expensive the better it would be. While deciding what machine I should purchase, I saw reviews on "Sweat Stop" aluminium choride antiperspirants. I thought, "What have I got to lose" and ordered the strongest they had.
This time I followed the instructions to the letter. Initially it was uncomfortable. My underarms would sting. Sometimes so badly I had to shower it off. I think in hindsite I may have used it to soon after my shower at night. You have to be 100% dry under your arms.
After 2 weeks I noticed I was sweating less under my arms. After a month I stopped needing to change my tops at work. Now, 5 months later my life has changed.
I can wear whatever top I like. It can be any colour, tight if I like, and no more sweat patches. At the end of the day I can still smell my deodorant. I go out without carrying spare clothes now. Most importantly, I've loved this summer. For the first time i've been able to walk around all day in a t shirt and not worry about sweating. Hyper Hydrosis nolonger controls my life. I had a severe condition and I wanted to share that sometimes the simplest solution works if you do it right and try it fully. Although I treat only my underarms. I nolonger sweat from my face or hands. Possibly that was a nervous reaction to my HH when in public.
I hope this helps someone in this forum.
Thanks.

the pain of the aluminium chloride roll ons were too intense for me. i started using them when first diagnosed with HH age 12. i guess my body was still changing so maybe that contributed to the unbearable searing itchiness. it left me with red lines on my underarms - highlighting the existing duct line or whatever it is that sweat seeps through. i may try it again but am considering doing botox injections only if it's free. however, i am worried about compensatory sweating - did you get any with this? how did u get past the pain?
