FIRST DAY WITH "SECURE WIPES"

Has anybody used these on their face before? I applied it (Secure Wipes 2.5%) to my face and neck, where most of my problem is, and two hours later I went outside. I was sweating profusely as usual! Is there a trick to using these things? Does it take a few days?

They look like pads that you would use on your face to treat acne. Small round pads. I'm going to keep trying them daily and let you know. Thanks for the reply!

I'm interested too so please do come back and let us know.

As many of you know, I use probanthine occasionally and it has worked for me pretty well.

Yesterday, the UK hit 36c and I was stuck in a meeting with 45 people, yes 45, most of the day.

I took 1 tablet on an empty stomach as is best at 0830 and it kept me totally dry till 13:00. I took another and that kept me dry till 15:30. Then I began to sweat so I took another and it never worked but I had ate lunch which apparently reduces the effect of the pill.

The day was exceptionally hot so perhaps its to be expected. From 4 till 6 I went between sweating facially with drips coming down my face to being dry(ish) and then sweating again. Very embarrassing to have to continually wipe your forehead, face and neck when everyone else is hot but dry.

My take on it is this. This tablet works when taken on an empty stomach for a period of time, but when taken over the course of a long day its effect reduces. Perhaps I should have taken 2 at the later times which is what the prescription recommends for severe heat. But, I guess, that I don't want to get into taking too many. My conclusion is that it helps me for most of the times, but in severe conditions I have to accept that the problem overwhelms the cure ......

How you guys cope in these temperatures regularly I don't know. At least here we don't have to cope with many days a year like this one.....

I tried the wipes again today. They do help some when under pressure situations in a cool room but if it's hot.....it's hot. I'm not giving up on them yet. Today was day 3. Besides I'll take something that works a little then nothing at all. Sometimes I get off stage and I'm drenched and aggravated and I say to myself "that's it I'm getting the surgery!" But then I cool off and forget about it. Usually about 2 minutes into my act I feel the sweat building up on my forehead and it's all I can think about. I know what it's like when you're in a room and the only one sweating. I feel like a freak! I'm constantly working on building my confidence and this HH can really work against you! I'm gonna give thre probanthanine a try soon. Thanks.

Romax.

Don't give up on secure wipes. Make sure you don't wash the area you apply them to for four hours after applying. I have been using them for a few weeks now and they have changed my life. I still sweat from my hair when it is really hot or I do exercise, but on the areas I apply them I am as dry as a bone. The effect seems to last for a couple of days between applications.

I hope they work for you.

Thanks Wacked! I have noticed that they do help. I'm going to keep using them. I'm using the 2.5% now but may go to the 3%. I wonder if I need to use them for a few days for them to really work. I'm going to use them for the next 5 days in a row and see if I notice a difference.

I tried the secure wipes and they worked; however, I experienced some temporary side effects that scared me. I have excessive sweating on my face (forehead, upper lip, chin, and hairline). I experience these problems with minimal exertion and have never experienced 1 day in my life with a dry face, except when I tried the secure wipes. I tried the 2.5% strength and applied it to my face before bed. The next morning, I noticed that my eyes were very sensitive to light. It felt like my eyes were dialated after a visit to the eye doctor. I am a nurse, and when I assessed my eye's in the mirror, I noticed that my pupils were unequal. My left pupil was larger, which explained the sensitivity to light. After reading up on the medication in oral form, a rare side effect is temporary paralysis of the accomadation mechanism of the optic nerve. This cleared up after a week when I stopped using the medication. My pupils did return to normal. I also experienced a dry mouth, decreased urination, constipation, and slight weight gain. I think because it is an anticholinerginic medication (it dries you out). The oral form is typically used for people with urinary incontinence or excessive salivation (drooling). I did attempt to try it again a few weeks later, and it did the same thing. the side effects when away when the medication was ceased. I will try the lower strength because it does do the job. I just thought I would share my experience.

How do they work exactly? Is it just like a wet tissue you wipe across the areas? Are there any instructions like how many times a dy you apply them?

I'd say just keep it up every day and see what happens. There could be a chance you need a stronger concentration but I couldn't say because I haven't tried them yet myself.

Hi! I used Secure wipes several years ago. They did help with facial sweat, but my bigger problem was head/scalp, which the wipes can't really help.

I moved on to Avert (=Robinul) which is MY answer. But obviously better to stick with the pads if you get enough help from them.

It's not the same medication so maybe you can order it.

Avert pills = Glycoppyrolate
Ditropan pills = Oxybotulin

Where you from?

Ditropan is the same as used in Dryclor? Odaban had zero effect for me... probably this will not work also.

I said ditropan **PILLS**

Avert,Ditropan etc = Oral medication
Dryclor, Odoban etc = Topical médication

So no it's not the same thing at all.

"probably this will not work also."

I not agree at all.

Avert(glycoppyrolate) and Ditropan (oxybutin) seems to be the greatest medication for facial hyperhidrosis.

In my case, Avert is a life saver.
I never tried ditropan.

Some can't buy Avert pills in their country, but they can buy ditropan pills.
I'ts not the same medication...

Yes you should definitely give the probanthanine a try. I have found that taking antichlonergic medications like probanthanine with the secure wipes give me the best results. I take 2mg Avert and also use the secure wipes on my face and I will stay dry through most of the day.
