Girls, would you date a guy who was on public assistance? (welfare)

This may sound like a weird question. My friend is on Welfare because he's Schizophrenic and he says that girls will date him despite that. I honestly don't know. I think it's much better to have job. Thoughts?

Depends upon the girl in question... There are a lot who will only consider someone if they have a job, other's don't mind... Personally, it makes no difference to me... In fact, since I am attached by very short heart strings to my husband, him not working is a huge bonus for me... I get to spend all my time with him... We don't cope well without each other... However, since most people probably don't care about being with people all the time, that bonus won't apply... I'm rambling again... I should stop...

I'll reiterate, it really does depend...

I think it would depend on the situation. I think it's better to have a job, too, but if someone is disabled, that might not be viable. I only have a problem with welfare assistance when lazy people abuse it.

Well, a lot of people in general aren't very understanding of mental illness so I would just assume that they would run away if you told them. Thanks for the input.

As a guy, I'd advise a female to make sure that the BF isn't just getting assistance due to laziness. He BETTER have a real reason for it. If she stays with him, and his reason for assistance is a bunch of BS, pretty soon she'll also be helping to support him. I'm all for giving someone a break, but when it comes to being a man, you just gotta tuck away your anxiety and stop begging.

I agree, but it's actually very hard to find a job at our age and at this time of the year. The only reason I got my job is because my Uncle and brother's good friend work there.

No, because that's not the level I am at in my life, personally. I am fully employed and I feel like I would date someone who also has a job. I am not really against welfare unless it's abused by a lazy person like people have already mentioned, and it is understandable that people with disabilities would need welfare. But personally, I do not think I would date someone who was on it.
