Default Going to the shop

When I get the chance to go and get myself fish and chips for tea, and I really feel like eating them, I usually end up not going because I hate going into the fish and chip shop to get them, even though its just up the road. I don't like having to tell the woman want a want. I feel too nervous and feel like I might not speak clearly. I also have this problem going to other shops and things where you have to ask for something. Anyone else find this?

Yeah I always have the same problem too, they never hear what I say so then I have to repeat myself and then I feel even worse, I'm stood there shaking with my face all red and feeling sick, dizzy etc. Another thing that worries me if when I am paying, I worry incase my card gets declined. Wenever I am in a shop I worry incase people think I am gonna steal something. Also when walking out of the shop I worry incase I set the alarm off so I have to walk out a certain way.

This might be a weird suggestion, but you could try writing down what you want on a note and passing it to the worker. I don't know, that's probably a weird suggestion, but it might work. Have you ever seen or heard of the movie "Dear Frankie"? It is a very good movie which takes place in Scotland and the boy in it is deaf, so there is a scene where he goes into a fish and chips shop and just passes the woman a note for what he wants! I just had a weird feeling after watching that movie because it's like that boy is deaf and can't verbally communicate, but he was still able to go in and get his food and I should be able to too!

Or I'd say to just keep going in and trying. You're bound to get better at speaking clearly so that the woman hears you the first time. Before you walk into the shop make sure you have a script in your head (hell, even write it down if you really need to) about your exact order and what you want to say.

I hate asking for stuff in shops! When i go to the chippy o'r other takeaway just when it comes to my turn my mind goes blank from anxiety...I can imagine people making fun of my voice and stuff. The worst thing is when i have to order for a lot of people, i just get flustered. What i also hate is in a lot of chippies you have to order stuff like chicken when you come in the shop so i have to raise my voice for them to hear me.

Going to shops is fine for me usually, my SA is usually only with people I see on a more regular basis, it rarely acts up with people I see once off, or only interact with very little. However, my problem with going to the shops is not being able to pronounce what I want to order. Some foods look so delicious on the display but I just can't order because I don't know how to pronounce it.
