I take a shower, use all the proper materials, exit the shower, and am still stinky. I worry I have developed a natural stink. If this isn't the origin story for my new stink bomb super power, I am not amused.

Yeah, since I switched to "natural" deodorant I notice that I stink more. But I don't care because I refuse to slather aluminum on my underarms anymore!!!!

I have a pile of chemistry I can't seem to get through. I keep losing motivation. I do a couple problems, then get stuck, then set it aside for another hour or so and go back into it again. Rinse and repeat.

I'm doing the same with drawing right now. I have all these small figures to draw, but I can only do one at a time. I finish one, take a long break, and start the next one. Each drawing lasts 15 to 20 minutes. At least I don't have any deadlines, this is just a hobby.

It's almost August and we haven't gotten a thunderstorm yet, which is not the usual. They keep calling for them but nothing has happened  80% chance of one right now and there's been lightning 11 miles away, so I'm hoping.

Edit: 5 miles away! :D

Edit: I HEAR THUNDER!!!!!!

Edit: ...but it never happened :(

Had to uninstall a game, otherwise I'll spend way too much time on it. It's hard to find a game which is entertaining enough to keep me interested for many weeks, but not so entertaining that it keeps me hooked for hours on end.

Looking through the books I needed to read during my masters, the first one I came across costs less than 20€. Great, I thought. Then I looked at all the others: no less than 60€ each, with one even going as high as 280€. I'm pretty sure they'd sell a lot more if they dropped the price. There are only two copies in the library, for 18 students. This is a master's degree, so I'm assuming they're much more serious about this and thus more likely to go read the books than the students from the bachelor's degree. They can also hog the books, keeping them for months and only paying a small penalty if they're required to return them earlier than they wish.

Most students end up illegally photocopying whole books. I'll probably have to do the same if I don't want to spend the equivalent to a year of tuition fees on books.

^ Another possibility is forming a book-buying club if there are people you feel would be able to work together. Are the books also available in public libraries? Second-hand bookstores are another possibility.

My brother pretty much bailed on doing the groceries for diner. The arrangement was he gets the food, and I then cook it, so our mom can come in and relax after work.

So after overhearing him complaining for about three hours how his life sucked because he couldn't go fishing due to having this one single responsibility he has towards the household, and condemning the rest of us for it, I figured **** it. I'll just do that too then.

You just focus solely on the relationship with your insane girlfriend that's been making my life a living Hell. I'm sure that takes a lot of work too. /s

Seriously, I'd much rather quadruple my workload than listen to a second of people pathetically whining about how minor contributions are unfair to them. Don't do me any favours.

Couldn't find them in second-hand bookstores. I couldn't find them in public libraries, only in the faculty library (and there are only 1 or 2 copies of each).

I'm going to try to get them from the library and I'll photocopy them, the law is very confusing but I think that if it is legal in situations like this, as long as I don't try to sell it.

Anyway, I noticed many of these books are very old (for programming) and so they're likely severely outdated. For example, one of these books is called "Using SQL" and the last edition is from 1995.

The weather outside is crazy. Trees are being ripped from the ground. On days like these riding a bicycle becomes an adventure. Had to chase after my glasses twice.

I don't know what to do now that I'm by myself again. You made me forget all of my worries, you allowed me to break out my inner wild child and adventurer. Literally nothing was impossible or out of the question when we were together. Life was so amazingly good. Now I feel stuck again. I'm worse off then ever before because I know what's out there now, all the things I could be enjoying but no longer can. I feel anxious, nervous, confused, heartbroken. I feel like less than half a person. Life is a beautiful idea but it doesn't excite me anymore. I want this to be over.

I felt exactly like that at the end of a relationship that really brought me out of my shell. It's wasn't the other person who was responsible for that though I realized, it was me. You can still do all the things you felt you could before, even without them. You'll get through this, and when you do, remember that.

"Sometimes it makes me sad, though... Andy being gone.
I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged.
Their feathers are just too bright.
And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice.
But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone.
I guess... I just miss my friend."

Red -The Shawshank Redemption

I wish there were better alternatives to ending discussion replies than with "cheers" which sounds like your sitting around having a beer

Love that quote, Planemo, and the film.

Nothing wrong with sitting around having a beer. Cheers!

I know what you mean though, and I hate beginning an email with Hi.

I started ending emails with other words such as salutations.

I might try slipping in some similar looking words (Cheerio, Cheep, Cheese etc) and see if anyone notices :p

I have run with Howdy, Hello, G'day as well. Bye for now, so long, see ya, Ciao, bon voyage. I struggle with regards or kind regards, with people I don't know very well. I used to feel a bit chuffed when someone sent me an email with regards. I will think, maybe they respect me, but then they finish all their emails with regards.
