Hair color and getting too much attention

I am not a fan of the wrong type of attention.

I remember telling one of my naive nieces that I am glad I do not have big, perky, Dead-Or-Alive breasts(or melons) and a big, jiggly derriere.

She was like, "Girl, you crazy!"

And I was thinking, "Well, you would be begging to become a man's prey then if you ever got breast and *** implants....."

I mean that may not be true.......or is it?
It is most definitely not true. Rape isn't about a man's lust overcoming his brains. It's not about how pretty a girl is. It's about violence and power. Please read this link from a rape crisis site about common myths.

Common misconceptions about rape

From the Rape link-

"Fact Women are often advised to avoid sexual violence by never walking alone at night. But in fact, only around 10% of rapes are committed by 'strangers'. Around 90% of rapes are committed by known men; someone who the survivor has previously known"

Woah-Very scary fact!

I did the same with henna and I felt like I stuck out like a target-I think if I was an actress or model it would be fun but it's too loud for business things, and I cannot wear a hat to a meeting! :giggle:

I wore a pair of silver aviator glasses, because I wanted to shield my anxiety from the world, and a woman asked "Are you an American Eagle?" Another two younger women saw me wearing them and laughed at me. Haven't worn them since.

Pics! Pics!! Pics!!! :D

I get comments about my beard sometimes. It's not like I did anything special to it. I just stopped shaving one day and let it do its thing. It's really nothing more than a 951 day growth of stubble. People seem to like it, though. The compliments can be nice, I'll admit, but they also demonstrate that I'm not nearly as invisible or anonymous as I'd like to be. Too much attention, especially from strangers, makes me very uncomfortable. Yuck.

you're lucky. I used to get people being offended by mine. admittedly not everyone but sometimes all it takes is one person to ruin my day. I personally don't understand how what other people look like can offend others (unless its expressing an obviously offensive statement). seems ridiculous to me, yet this behaviour was annoying enough for me to consider shaving my facial hair off.

i've also noted that brightly coloured clothing seems to aggravate some people as well...

I cannot express how happy I am to have my blonde hair coming back in. I was amazed at all the unwanted attention being a redhead-well, a bright-haired in the "red orange family", would cause me.

I hated every second of it and I am so glad to be coming back to my natural blonde hair color finally!! I used henna and it won't wash out so anyways...moral of the story... if you're shy and hate attention do not color your hair a bright color:kickingmyself:

Anyone ever do something to their appearance they regret for the attention it caused? Everyday at my old job someone would ask me about my hair it was awful!

Having red hair you were living the dream:) unless it was like clown red that's too much of a good thing.

I missed being a blonde, so it was a good experience for that .. Red is not for me-felt like there was a fire on my head all the time.

Platinum is next...

I've had blue hair once before, but it didn't really work, looked pretty crap. I got some comments and looks from people, though I don't recall any particularly bad ones.

It's bleached bright blond at the moment.

For me an unnatural hair color just screamed "talk to me about my hair" when before no one ever said a thing. It was too much!
