it's a little funny, but i've been called snob because i don't often look people or compliment them. my bad sight helps the problem.

Yes.
I was shocked to find that out, but it makes sense.
I was terrified in high school, but most of my classmates thought I was stuck up.
I had no idea anyone though that of me until I was 32, and probably still wouldn't if my GF and I weren't classmates.
Most of it has to do with me avoiding uncomfortable situations.
A good example would be running into an old classmate.
There's a good chance I won't talk to them or even acknowledge recognition.

Nope. I try to not appear too snobbish. If someone waves at me or says hi, I'll try to do it back. I know how annoying it would be if someone didn't wave back or say something back to me. I just won't start anything though. I don't give compliments either, unless someone gives me one first.

Snob? No. But I'm sure people have thought that about me. I have been called "really fucking rude", however (which i don't think was justified).

yep hundreds of times. its funny because i was brought up on a housing estate know locally as ''the arsehole'' but have been called a snob since i was 5  i am quiet and intelligent, i dont suffer fools gladly, does that make me a snob? people say i put my nose in the air when i see them and ignore them...blah blah...its just another part of people not understanding social phobia. let them think what they want theyre the one being judgemental and using labeles, not me

No, I've never been called a snob, at least not to my face. I've been referred to as aloof, which is pretty close, but never a snob.

Yesterday however...I was called a coward by my brother in law's mother because I wouldn't go inside my sister's house and say hello to everyone. It was partially because I have been sick and didn't want to spread my germs, and partially because my brother in law's family are all loud, outgoing people who scare me. She said, "Come on in, don't be a coward." I was a little bit shocked and offended, but I considered the source and tried not to let it bother me.

yes there have been a few people that i'm friends with now, or at least who know me better, that have told me that they thought i was snobbish or stuck up when they first met me.

i think it does have to do with avoidance. sometimes i don't want to say hi or talk to somebody until they do so first, so maybe i come off as a bit cold. i guess i just need time to sort of figure people out before i decide how to interact with them.

Yes, er someone I was talking to a bit today said they thought I was really pretentious and stuck-up when they first met me...makes me wonder whether everyone I've been around but haven't spoken to (which is basically the majority of people to be fair) thinks this too. It couldn't be further from the truth though! It just screams IRONY, someone with SA being perceived as snobbish!

Pretty much exactly the same.

But once people get to know me they realize its just part of who I am.

I've heard it a few times. The weird thing is I'm usually trying to be very polite so as not to annoy people.

I really try not to be. I've never been called one in real life...not anything I know of at least.
However, I was called one, not to mention, on HERE!!!!

hmmm some of these SAers sure dont act so sensitive over forums to be dishing out insults like that.
So yeah, no ones told me that to my face, but i dont naturally give off that vibe. I'd rather be called a dork b/c it means you are excited about things and having fun,..than be called a snob.

different folks different strokes!!

like i said, being called a dork is less offensive, when some one calls you a snob its generally deliberate and a more serious label

I think a dork is more pejorative, like when someone tryies to pick on you, beign called snob is much like the person actually thinks it of you... i've been called snob by some relatives :/...

but like you said :
