Hey man....has anyone been on Remeron (Mirtazapine)?

I was prescribed this stuff a few days ago. I have not responded to SSRI, SNRI, wellbutrin, blah blah blah.......

Anyways it says that a possible side effect is "excessive mellowness" and "spontaneous orgasm". This made me crack up when I read it.

This stuff really helps me get to sleep easy. I dont know if it is helping anxiety but I do feel somewhat excessively mellow...lol. Also, mood is much improved.

My brain seems to work better with this shit....like I usually will freeze up and my mind goes blank. With this shit, my mind still works and I can keep the convo going much easier.

I take 45mgs of Remeron a day. In higher doses Remeron has stimulant properties that cancel out the drowsiness anti-histamine effect it has. It helps my appetite a bit and keeps me from sinking into Major Depression.

aye its cause your calm, and not having to hurry your words.
Mirtazapine, nitrazepam, valium, temazepam, are all benzos just with different names i reckon
i take NITRAZEPAM, during the day, im supposed to take it at night so i get a good sleep, but these days i need them to function. so i am addicted to benzos

the problem is with these drugs is that they are highly addictive and they wear off more in the long term (so you end up needing more)
the biggest fear of all for me is if a doctor sais that i dont need them anymore and stops giving them to me

i know the feeling though, of pure relaxation with these "magic pills", its not like your taking them to get smashed out your skull!. they make you feel the way that so called normal people do and you have the right to feel that way.

if there is any possible way while taking these drugs you can say to yourselve "i can feel like this without these pills" go for it

i cant

Um....its not a benzo. I already take Xanax as my PRN benzo. I believe it is called a tetracyclic antidepressant.

I used to be way addicted to 4mg/day Klonopin and benzo withdrawal is hell most definately.

Its worth it for me however. They really help anxiety short term and that allows me to accomplish shit.

Heres my "proof" thats its not benzo...... Mirtazapine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It says its a "psychoactive drug of the benzazepine and tetracyclic antidepressant (TeCA) chemical classes"......whatever the hell that means....lol

Trazodone is a Tetracyclic anti-depressant, Remeron is more of Atypical anti-depressant and your right it has NO relation to any benzo.

I haven't used it but have heard of it.Remeron will pull you out of the deepest, blackest depression like no other medication will. So it's mainly used as an antidepressant. You will sleep. ALOT. So if that's what you want, I'd talk to your doctor about it. But be warned of two things...You will literally eat sugar straight out of the bag to satisfy your cravings for sweets and carbohydrates. And Remeron appears to be subject to a really quick "poop-out", like after just a month or so. Works great, then quits on you

Remeron doesnt make you as sleepy at higher dosages like 45mgs. This is because it has stimulant properties at higher doses.

i know i've heard a lot about remeron's abilities to conquer depression, but how effective is it for treatment resistant anxiety? i have often thought about trying it because i've gone through almost all ssri's and some snri's and the only thing that helps the anxiety and panic is klonopin...but klonopin is too much fun...and running out of that is awful

Try asking your doctor for Ritalin for your SA. It works great for making you face your fears. Mix it with Remeron and Klonopin for the rest of your anxiety needs and your good to go.

noca, my friend, you have never met my doc. i so don't think that she would ever give me ritalin. she would consider the remeron, in fact, if the current combo i'm on doesn't work, that may be the next trial. but i don't think she would go for ritalin, and....also....i'm afraid to ask her.

Come informed about what medication your asking for. 8 times out of 10, the medication Im asking for, I know more about it than the doctor does.

I've taken it before, mainly for insomnia. It works, but I feel nauseous when I'm on it... And the creative spark is gone because I'm too mellow and relaxed. But mood wise, I'd say it does help..

Update:

Its pretty good shit it seems. I am definitely a lot more happy with much improved mood. I think it is helping with the anxiety but I would like more.

Today I spent aboot 4 hours cleaning my room and I never clean my room. I mean never....this was the first time. Its like im on a stimulant but im not wired. I finally care enough to have a clean room and this is good.

I might ask my doc to go up to 45mg. I used to be on Celexa which is the only SSRI to work for me. Unfortunately I grew a tolerance to celexa's effect. I think I will ask to go back on celexa and mix it with the Remeron and hope that both maintain their effects.

I feel like if I could mix the effects of celexa and mirtazepine it would be a perfect combo. The only bad side effect is increased appetite. Celexa decreased my appetite and hopefully it would offset this effect.
