How are you feeling?

I'm sending every single one of you guys some happiness. Seems like a lot of you are feeling pretty down today. Hope you all feel better soon!

I currently have the house to myself for the night. :) Well, my dad is here, but he's sleeping at the moment and then he'll be leaving for work in a few hours.

Somedays, I wonder why I bother getting out of bed. I wish I could just sleep forever and never have to interact with anyone ever again.

Something like cryo-stasis where you stay asleep and maintained for extended periods of time. That sounds nice.. just sleeping for a few months. Like a holiday from conciousness.

although i am crazy afraid, i feel i am doing the right thing. the quote that resonates right now:

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear. The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all. From now on you'll be traveling the road between who you think you are and who you can be. The key is to allow yourself to make the journey.” -Meg Cabot

Ugh! I hate interacting with people... My husband and I were out by the shed getting the boxes for the Christmas decorations... The neighbours came out and said "Happy New Year" and asked if we'd had a good Christmas, we said "yes" and returned the new year's sentiments... Feeling it would be rude not to inquire as to how their Christmas was, I asked, but they'd turned to go to their car and as I speak quietly they didn't hear, which just made me feel so incredibly stupid... And yes, I know it's stupid to feel stupid over such a trivial thing, but it really bothered me... I just wanted to curl up into a ball and hide...

See, this is what happens if you never interact with people at all... Even the most trivial of things becomes blown up into something ridiculous.

However, on the plus side, I felt no anxiety at all on today's walk around the field, which means I've gone a whole week with no anxiety whilst out walking! (I wonder if it's down to the self-hypnosis I tried on Christmas day whilst listening to Two Steps From Hell...?) However, I feel a little too scared to try venturing on a different route. :/ (Despite the fact I told myself I would if I went a week with no anxiety...)

Please guys, could you leave the sick, gross stuff for common people in the real world, or all those other sites where such vile stuff is bandied about freely by all the heathen-trolls ... not on here!!!

(althought Opaline is female, and quite possibly rather virile, i'm sure she would NOT have any interest whatsoever in such "cheap'n'trashy" pursuits )

Hah! Actually I know by experience that she gets my sense of humor. But for your sake, I'll delete it. :giggle:

P.S. ...virile? What...n/m.

I think I'm getting another cold. Not surprising in the least, I usually get 3 a year. argh. I wonder if ingesting copious amounts of vitamin C really does help fight colds. I'm dubious.

^ Vitamin C doesn't cure a cold or prevent them, however getting your daily dose of vitamin C does boost your immune system (and a little additional during a cold wouldn't hurt either), which can help fight colds better and reduce their duration. I know it's a pretty controversial topic, since there is a whole mixed bag of articles out there stating that it does or doesn't (like BlueDays basically said). I believe Vitamin C does have a huge impact though. It is a vitamin afterall and vitamins are essential to the body.

I actually picked up a little freebie magazine thing at Wegmans today that had a chart on vitamin C and foods rich in it. According to the chart, a 1/2 cup of raw, chopped red peppers have a higher amount of vitamin C than a glass of orange juice. Red peppers = 95mg; 6 oz. orange juice = anywhere between 62 - 93mg. A cup of whole strawberries also has 85mg, which can also be higher than a glass of OJ. The daily intake for an adult is about 75mg, but upper limit is 2000mg. (don't go beyond this point)

So eat your peppers and strawberries! ;)
However, don't deny chicken soup either. Protein totally helps me too!

I'm feeling like a caged or chained animal. I can see so much going on "out there" but I can't have it or experience it.

I attempted to work my 8 hour shift today (despite still having a sore throat, very runny nose, and overall feeling miserable) but bailed out 2 hours early at the encouragement of some co-workers. I might be more sick than some of our patients! We had a record number of people show up today, most being seen for sore throat, fever, and congestion. It's a quite nasty strain which is taking about 6 days to see improvement. Three more days to go for me - can't wait for this thing to pass!

I also saw a 100 year old lady - she looked really good! I love the little old ladies who come in with their hair and make-up all done, being all fashionable in their golden years. So cool! :)
