How Do You Feel About Hugging?

I like giving hugs and am usually open to them. The problem is I don't feel comfortable initiating them. This is because I've heard a lot of people say they aren't huggers and don't want anybody invading their personal space. I don't want to offend anyone that way. I have a terrible memory of going to hug a co-worker on my last day at a job and she just walked away. Man, did I feel stupid. When you think of it, I guess hugging is somewhat of an intimate thing considering you're basically pressing bodies against each other.

It depends on who I'm hugging. Hugging family and friends doesn't feel as weird as hugging strangers. And hugging members of the opposite sex makes me feel more nervous and uncomfortable.

I don't think I'm a huggable person. I kinda feel bad when someone does go in for a hug, I don't think they are going to like it.
But I guess I do enjoy them, but I'd rather avoid it since I care too much what the other person will think. I've never rejected a hug tho, I'd feel rude doing that.

Nice hugging video btw..

Physical contact with the opposite gender makes me relax I think. I'm open to hugs but I don't initiate it.

I've never been hugged and I've never hugged anyone as far as I remember, so I would feel weird about it. I don't generally like physical contact, but I guess it would depend on the person.

I like to be hugged but it will depend on the person who is hugging me of course. I ´m used to hug people I love, my mother and special friends.

I like hugging. I hug my closer friends when I meet them and when we part, and sometimes just like that.

I love hugs. I absolutely love them. They reduce sadness and make me feel wanted and cared for.

I can't really speak enough of them. From the opposite sex, it's fantastic.

I don't get hugged enough as I want to.

I love hugs. It makes me feel good and safe. Of course I don't go around hugging people. As you mentioned, many people think of the invasion of their personal space. I usually don't initiate them either. I only hug someone if they ask me to. :)

When it comes to friends and family, I don't mind it. I can't say I absolutely love it, but I definitely don't hate it. I appreciate them. Hugging strangers though? That's awkward and makes me very uncomfortable.

I haven't had anyone to be purely emotionally affectionate towards me since my age grew into double digits. Hugs, compliments, kisses (romantic and platonic alike) or any other sort of affection connection/communication feels downright alien to me. I find it uncomfortable.

I feel the same. There is this female friend of mine that has always been a very "physical" person (not sure if that's the correct expression). Basically she was always hugging people and stuff like that. I used to be one of her "favourite targets" I guess, she used to hug me all the time when we went out with our group of friends and sometimes we'd hold hands like a couple. There was nothing going on between us but I liked the way it felt. It makes me feel like I'm accepted.

She has a boyfriend now though, so she stopped doing that. Now I don't get hugs from anyone except my sister sometimes, but it doesn't feel the same.

I love hugs! It makes me feel closer to people. And this might sound weird but I think overweight people give the best hugs everrrrr, once I was upset and this overweight lady (can't remember who it was now) gave me the biggest hug ever and it actually made me feel so much better and she was so soft and cuddly haha.

But yeah I'll take a hug any day.

Hugs are ok if they're from people I know well enough. I don't initiate them though.
