How to get to know someone (Lady)

Hi I just want some advice about how to approach a lady of whom I
have become fond of at work from sort of afar.
She is Russian but does speak english but not very well but the problem is
I don't come into contact with her very much apart from in passing & don't
always say hello because I am not always very good at initiating it like I want to say hi but if she might look away I start to feel embarrased because she didn't speak to me, I don't know anyway if you see what I mean. I don't really know how old she is I think about 40ish but has a fantastic body & dresses youngish I think I've developed a crush on her, Its impossible to tell if she is or was married because there doesn't seem to be any wedding or engagement rings on apart from a chain she usually wears around her neck with a heart on the end. I know this sounds silly at my age but I've always had this problem when it comes to the opposite sex as I suffer from Anxiety or mainly love shyness but I see her more or less every day at work I would just like to get to know her a bit better even if just that would it be a good Idea to ask her to go for a drink or coffee sometime or would that be pushing the boat out too far.
What do you think.
Regards

P.S- Sensible answers only please.:)

Start off small. Start saying hello or good morning every time you cross paths. Make eye contact. Give her hints your interested. Try and have conversations with her when you can. Maybe lunch time. Learn more about her and anything you may have in common.

After all that, if you get a good feeling about it. Take a direct approach and ask her out for a coffee or something. Good luck!

I do say hello or hi & she will sometimes just sort of nod & smile or look away.
I think she is away on holiday at the moment so when she returns hopefully
I will get the chance to ask if she enjoyed her week off I suppose that's a sort
of conversation starter isn't it.
Oh! & thanks for your reply.
