Hyperhidrosis, Cystic Acne & Pectus Carinatum

Hey guys,

Just looking for people who may have the same type of problems as I have had over the years because I firmly believe they are all connected. When I was 15, I had a corrective surgery for my Pectus Carinatum (deformity to the chest). Once the surgery was done, things really went downhill quick for me. I developed cystic acne and was on accutane for awhile. It is also the first time I realized I had severe palmar & plantar hyperhydrosis. I find it interesting that all things began after my surgery to correct the deformity in my chest. It could be a coincidence, but I know my body very well and believe it is all connected somehow. It has taken me a long time (10 years) to get things figured out. I tried everything for my hyperhydrosis and eventually decided to have ETS surgery at Mayo Clinic. My hands don't sweat anymore but I have compensatory sweating in my trunk, legs and feet. As for my acne, I believe I found the answer there as well. I had tried everything. But, it seems as though Vitamin B5 has really helped eliminate my acne and oily skin.

Anyways, I'm just looking to see if anyone out there has had these three specific traits as I do. I want to see if they believe it is all connected as well. Hyperhidrosis, Acne, Pectus Carinatum and Depression/Anxiety. Please let me know if you have had most or all of these traits. I am very interested in learning about your experience.

That's awesome! Ha...it's not really awesome. But, it is nice to know there's people experiencing the same things as I am.

-When did the depression/anxiety kick in for you? What age?
-Do you have oily skin as well? Has your acne gotten any better? I'm sure after 8 years you have basically tried everything.
-Have you ever considered ETS surgery for hyperhidrosis?
-Have you ever heard of vitamin B5 for acne/oily skin?

I've had all these problems over the past 11 years. But, the past year has been spent really trying to find myself and take care of these issues. I have had some great help along the way and would like to help you/others out if I can. Talking about the issues and being honest with yourself and others is very important in the road to recovery I believe.

Id say anxiety quite soon after getting it and having to think about situations and going places and how my HH would effect that etc
Depression probably soon after getting em too...when uve got spots all time etc and nothing you can do about its quite hard to be happy (on top of the HH)
so say aged 21.

I do have oily skin...its strange I never used to ...it was like about 5 years ago my skin would be really dry and last few years my skin has been really oily which annoying.
My skin is kinda under control not so many spots...sorta white bumps here and there which annoying but biggest thing that depresses me is scaring I have got from messing around with my skin as cant help squeeze/pick etc even though I know youre not meant to.
Other frustrating thing is like few years after I had acne and had tried everything I wanted to go onto roaccutane and my derm wouldnt let me because I was depressed (well I have never actually been diagnosed with depression but when I saw her she said I seemed depressed so wouldnt prescribe me it). Im sure if she had given it to me my skin would be better now with no scaring :/ Currently seeing Dr Chu in London and having dermaroller and TCA cross to help with scaring.
At the momet Im taking Clarithromycin 250mg 2 times a day. I also use Retin A at night although not been using to much recently as I have problems with Seborrhoeic dermatitis on face (I think its called) where get redness around sort of cheeks by nose. Thats quote frustrating too and only got past few years out of nowhere.

No I would never try ETS, too risky. Ive tried a op in NYC (Ive forgotton what the op is called now) but where cut open armpit and like remove sweat glands (well apparently) and that didnt work. Also had a laser op in London forgotten what that called too but that didnt work. Had botox which doesnt help to much either. Theres a op called laser sweat ablation I been thinking about is like £3.5K which alot of money and that prob not work either.
I was using probanthine which helped but they stopped producing it at the moment so thats annoying, currently taking Oxybutynin but dont think really works.

Nope never tried Vit B5, will give that a go thanks.

Hows about you, what you using to help with your skin and HH. What other stuff you tried. You been left with any scaring and probs with depression ? what do you do about that

I have hyperhydrosis, but only on my nose, armpits, scalp, and back. The rest of my body barely sweat or don't sweat as much. I have never sought medical treatment for it. Everytime before I go out, I put on a lots of deodorant and in the summer time, I tend to wear dark shirts or sweaters so that the sweat stains won't be as visible.

My skin is half oily half dry: my nose, forehead, and sides are oily but my chin and cheeks are dry. When I was a teenager, I used to get lots of pimples with occasional cystic acne on my face (usually on the nose, forehead, and sides). I went to the doctor twice and received medication; they work at first but later lose effect. So I started looking for other remedies, such as cutting dairy from my diet, washing my face with orange peel, etc. The only thing that worked for me is baking soda. What I do is pour about a teaspoon of baking soda, mix it w/ a bit of water to form a paste, and apply it on my face. I do this everyday in the shower and then wash it off. At first my first stang like crazy. Imagine pouring salt water on your face - that's what it felt like. But as I got used to it, the pain decreased over time. Now my acne problems has considerably lessened. I have little or no pimples, but there are some scars and bumps on my face. I also experience no pain now when I use baking soda.

Now, I'm not a doctor so I'm not saying baking soda is the answer to acne problems, but it helped me tremendously. It worked for me better than any medicine I ever took.

What also helped me is clipping my hair back during sleep. I have an oily scalp and therefore oily hair. So when my hair gets in the face, it causes pimples to develop. Clipping my hair back has helped lessen acne for me.

Botox works well for Plantar HH but is very expensive. I also have oily skin. B5? Never tried that. How many mg do you take a day? Thanks!

Hey guys, I tried responding to each of your questions and submitted answers. But, I think the site prevented me from sharing my answers because I'm new to the forum? Maybe I had posted too much and they thought I was a "bot" of sorts. Anyways, if you really want answers to your questions just private message me with your questions. Be specific in what you want to know.

I would answer the questions on the forum again, but I did a lot of typing and none of my answers were posted.
