The title says it all.
Guys, I got hired at this college cafeteria.
I am excited because I finally found a job,
but I'm also really nervous because of my socially anxiety.

Someone talk to me and tell me I'm a killer and that I'll do just fine.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You've *GOT* this, yo. You're gonna *OWN* that place! Everyone is your minion, and *you* are tha *BOWSE*!

Gratz on the job! Don't worry about the dropped plates, though... 'cause it's *clearly* never your fault. The floor was just slippy, and the janitor went on break. Yup. Yup. Definitely.

Once you get comfortable with the work place, it will be become one of your safe places (at least I hope it will, that is how it was for me.) Sending best wishes, and congrats!

They're going to adore you, and they'll be happy to have a cool new person around them. If you don't talk much that will just make you mysterious, and they'll understand that you aren't used to how everything works or what exactly to do because you just started.

:)!

Can't better anyone else's advice, except to add just think after working there two or so weeks, you will walk in there for your shift and you will know exactly what to do. That time will come.:)
Good luck.

Congrats, sav! You'll do great. The first few hours are always the worst of it. After that, I'm sure it'll be like nothin'. Good luck. :)

Thanks for the encouragement! And you're right, I need to keep reminding myself that they're not going to expect me to know how everything works immediately.

You should watch a film call "Rampage" : Rampage (2009) - IMDb

Lol.

Just try to think about the positive. You got a job! :)

I've been at my current place of work for nearly 10 years. My S.A was a real issue for me at the start as I was in an open plan office and had never been in that kind of environment before. But not very long after the consistent exposure every day for 8 hours I became completely at ease. Now my colleagues can't shut me up! Lol. Also the increased confidence it gave me stretched into normal everyday life. So I'm so glad I stuck with it because I am worlds apart from that person I was on my first day in that office. I would really like to move on now and make a change in employment. But I am too scared to leave a comfortable environment and risk going back to how I was. I don't think it would be that bad but I have no way of knowing until I gamble and take the risk. :-/

Well done for getting the job. It is a really brave step and stick with it no matter what! If your S.A does make it difficult, it will only improve day by day! Also it will help you fight you S.A in general.

You'll be great I'm sure! :)

Remember - Stick with it!!

That's inspiring and puts me at bit more at ease. It's nice having others reinforce that I will adapt. I know I will, I'm just a little apprehensive about the discomfort in the beginning.
I had an idea of just pretending I'm someone else tomorrow. I'll go to work and just detach from my perception and fear and repeatedly tell myself that I am not me but someone else.
:p
Or you know, continue to jam it in to my head that life is a joke and who cares what happens.
OR mumble to myself, "this is a dream, life is but a dream.

I understand your apprehension about finding a new job but I think you should go for it! You can do it. You know the whole spiel about life is about tasking risks, but yeah, it's true.
You will adapt to your new future job.
