Improv.

I want desperately to take an improv class, both to overcome shyness and because it is something I have always wanted to do.

I have heard from people that taking acting- or specifically improv- classes really helped them. Can anyone here attest to that? The classes are opening soon and I really want to sign up, but I am still scared to do it...

I recently read a book on improv and I think some of the advice there is right on target and can be really helpful for people with shyness. I think taking a class would be cool. If you think that you can manage taking a class with a level of anxiety that isn't overwhelming, then totally go for it! It may wind up having a profoundly positive impact on your shyness. If you do take the class and you get a chance, let us know how it goes.

I'm new around here and all but that same sort of decision was on me in high school. I took the chance, and I'm not joking when I say that the next three years of theatre classes were the only joy I got out of the terror of high school. I really think I was lucky because if I hadn't taken those classes I know I'd be in worse shape than I am now. So what I'm trying to say :p is give it a whirl!

And good luck to ya! :D
