Is SA really as bad as we make it out to be?

If I wasn't shy would I even be the same person? I don't know, I was just thinking about how dramatic some of my classmates lives are. Do I really want that? I mean, I hate being shy, I feel like I'm missing out.

Do we think that being shy is bad because unshy people believe that it is? If being shy was the cool new thing tomorrow, would we feel better about ourselves?

I really don't get how being shy is bad...but I'm in a good mood right now so...

I don't want a dramatic life and I wouldn't want to be anything than who I am... but a better, more able version of myself. I like to be a bit shy because that is who I am. So no, being shy isn't that bad. But having a social anxiety disorder and being afraid to do every day things IS as bad as we think it is. I know that having a social phobia messes with my life and ability to do the things I want to do, including what I'd like to do for a career. I think it's an awful thing.

I think that everyone wants to be accepted. With SA/SP, not only do you feel that you don't have a chance, but you kick yourself for not even trying. It's like beating yourself up mentally for something you didn't do.

There's nothing wrong what so ever with being shy in of itself but when it starts to negitvely affect your life and most importantly it keeps you from doing what you want to do then it is bad.

Yeah I think we make SA worse, by thinking of it so much! Slowly I think its getting better. I will always be shy that is my character! SA is getting on my nerves, its annoying as hell!

SA makes it nearly impossible for me to meet people and form relationships

that makes me very very very lonely

humans are designed to be sociable creatures, it is not healthy for us to be alone for so much of the time

with that in mind SA is a bad thing

Well for me meeting isn't hard at all, the hard part is talking to them. My mind goes completely blank when I hate to talk to people, words simply don't come out of my mouth.

When they do come out, they come out stuttering, people barely understand what the hell I'm saying
