I accredit packing on 50lbs within the last year to this stuff as well. It's the only factor that has changed within that time, so I'd say the meds have something to do with it:eek:

One bad thing about zoloft, or maybe other meds as well: If you fall behind on dosage, you might get the sensation of your brain evaporating. I think they call that the "zaps". I've been trying to reduce my dosage, and I get those terrible sensations

I've been taking 50mg of Zoloft for over a month now and so far I haven't experienced any serious side effects. I did feel a bit nauseous when I started taking it and had minor difficulty with speech but most of the side effects wear off within the first two weeks. So far I've only gained 1kg (2.2 lbs) but I'm only on a low dosage at the moment so it's probably a good time to hit the gym before things start to get worse...

Well, you may be bi-polar my friend. Don't self diagnose yet but I told my doctor I thought I may be bipolar since i have constant thoughts I litterally cannot stop and ridiculous mood swings. I take a 50mg of zoloft, he told me if I was bipolar the zoloft would keep me up, because zoloft is suppose to kinda make u tired. If you have horrible anxiety that may be causing it too, I recommend to talk to your doctor about what I told you, hope I helped

From what I have heard they are very bad for you, but also going off them can be dangerous too so you have to be careful, but my opinion is you would be better off without them, there are other natural things you can take (that have no side effects & are healthy for you) that I have used for depression, things like Lithium Orotate & 5-HTP work amazingly well & are extremely cheap to buy.

I take zoloft (50mgs) and ive been on it for probably a yr. I like it! I take it in the morning though and I don't really notice any weird side effects. I also take Metformin & topamax to help keep my weight stable from all my meds I take. But if you can't sleep, I used to be able to go days without any sleep. There's an over the counter pill called Sleepinal. It's the best thing I ever tried. You can get it any rite aid or cvs or even on online!

It really is different for everyone. It does depends on the person. Zoloft for me was the worst medication I ever took. Some people do get good side effects from it, just talk to your Doctor and try it out.

Im not a fan of zoloft. I had no weight side effects, but it did make me feel sluggish and less caring though I was still depressed. I used it on several occasions where I would be on it for some months and then step off it gradually cause I didnt like it.

Im on a low dosage of citalopram now, I like it.

Ive seen tons of commercials about getting money back if you have taken zoloft and your child has any irregular features (clubfoot for example) so its not safe enough for a unborn child but if you're not pregnant i dont think zoloft is that harmful (all drugs have disadvantages though).

Any medications can be "bad" or "good" depending on who takes them. I'm on meds that are good for me, but someone else could take the exact ones and have horrible complications from them. All meds vary from person to person.

I've been on 100mg of Zoloft for a few months now, and for me it seems to be doing a decent job. I do feel pretty tired and fatigued most days, and I have also experienced weight gain, occasional gastrointestinal problems, extremely vivid dreams, and more sweating than usual (and feeling warm/hot a lot). But for me, it's worth it to not be depressed and suicidal anymore.

Whether Zoloft is right for you really depends on how Zoloft works with your body and what side effects you're willing to put up with in exchange for the benefits.

I gained a considerable amount of weight while I was on Zoloft. I'm still trying to get those pounds off now after stopping the medication.... As for the sleeping problems, I can't really say as I was on a sleep med at the time as well. Other than that, I did get those "zaps" when I was weaning off of the meds. Pretty freaky. Kinda makes you think about what exactly is happening in your brain while taking certain stuff.

I didn't have any problems with Zoloft for the 4 years I was on it. I noticed I had wicked cotton mouth for a few weeks after starting it, and I had increased sweating for about that duration. After a few weeks, all of my side effects disappeared. I did noticed brain zaps rarely.

Now I'm on Lexapro, and I've been on it for 3 years. No side effects to speak of. My blood pressure is a little low, but I never had a problem with BP. I attribute it to my kicking caffeine and high salt/high fat foods.

As YellowBird mentioned, it greatly varies from person to person.

Prozac gave me insomnia. Zoloft works fine with me. I actually don't have any side effects that I feel.

Yes zoloft in general is bad, to me anyway. I respect people who say it works for them and are happy with it though the listed potential side effects are a bit hilarious, have you seen the wiki?. Seriously though, it's basically a poison and bad in my view. Are you familiar with 5-htp? For most if not all reasons that anti-depressents are prescribed (apart from financial of course), 5-HTP is safer, cheaper and more effective.

5-htp boosts serotonin, the chemical responsible for happyness. It's classed as a food supplement but is way more of a actual anti-depressent than those ssri's the drug dealers in suits dish out. If i sound bias it's because i am... There's plenty of research done on 5-htp if interested in investigation. Can get them online or at local chemist.

Hopefully you havn't been getting random boners while doing the shopping too...sexual dysfunction another side effect.
