It's not irrational when you're objectively ugly.
(Beauty's not in the eye of the beholder -- that's just something some friendly people say to make ugly individuals feel better about themselves).
It's not irrational when every single time you expose yourself out there you notice disapproving looks and gestures from the passers-by you encounter.
(If only we could all be wearing an automatic counter that told us how many times we've been criticised throughout our day, be it just in thought or word. The "You're just magnifying things, making it all up" argument could be thrown out the window rather easily, then.)
It's not irrational when pretty much everyone is scared of speaking in public or being observed by a crowd.
(You want me to stop caring about what other people say and consider that to be my biggest problem. However, what differentiates me from the rest is not the fact that I care and they don't (they do too!!), but rather the fact that they don't think they are as laughable as I know I am.)
It's not irrational when you're living in a society which values outward appearance so much.
(You're urging me to create my own set of values regardless of what society dictates, but that just won't work. You don't get anywhere in life only by being loving and kind-hearted. You may think each and everyone of us is equally valuable, but life will show you we're not.)
