Hi All,

I'm interested to know how many mg of Lexapro people are taking and when they are taking it ? and what experiences people have had with it ?

I'm taking 5mg day 3 and I take it just before bed !

Not had to many side effects yet ! What have other people had ?

thanks

When I was on it, I was on 20mg for most of the time. Id take it before bed. I dont recall any side effects, but then again it didnt really do much to help either.

I'm taking it right now. I started out at 5MG, and now I'm at 20MG. I take it every day when I wake up. I'm terrified of having side effects from medications, but I didn't get any from this one, thankfully. It seems to be helping me, which is a surprise. I've tried many other anti-depressants for my panic attacks, depression and OCD, and they did no good at all. I didn't even feel a difference. However, with Lexapro, I am definitely noticing some changes. I haven't had a full-blown panic attack in probably about a week or longer. I used to have them on a daily basis. My general anxiety and obsessive thoughts/fears have also lessened significantly. I'm grateful that I decided to try out this med. It's also extremely expensive, lol. Luckily, my insurance paid for it.

Anyway, I'd recommend it. But everyone reacts differently to medications. I hope this one works out for you.

Just wanted to update this and let you know that I'm up to 30MG, starting 40MG soon, and I'm still feeling really good with this medication. Not that it's important, but I came across my old-ish post and wanted to share. I hope you've had some luck finding a proper medication.

Yeah, it is. Most people go up to 20MG, but my psychiatrist suggested we go higher. She wanted to put me on Wellbutrin along with the Lexapro for my depression that doesn't seem to be going away, but I didn't want to do that. So, she suggested we go higher on the Lexapro. We'll see what happens.

When I took it we started at 5mg and then moved to 10mg. The only side effect I experienced was extreme sweatiness, I felt unbearably hot all the time and within minutes my clothes would be soaking wet with sweat, that lasted for about 2-3 hours after taking the medication. Didn't do much for me but then again I only took it for about 3 weeks or so and it was a low dose.

I only take 10 mg of Lexapro. But I took Paxil and Zoloft in a much higher dose about 9 years ago. For starters, I feel pretty relaxed and way less stressed and anxious. I have noticeable memory problems and slow reactions sometimes to things also feel like I could be really lazy all day and do nothing. I make extra mistakes but not as many as I was making lol. Sometimes trimers like when I get into bed to sleep and sweating especially when I am asleep. I eat more sometimes too. It's important to try and exercise and stay busy. Ohh and let me add sinusitis. By now I don't even realize how good it is but if I were to get off I would go downhill.

I'd much rather have side effects than too much anxiety to function everyday. I really want to accomplish my tasks, hobbies and improve socializing skills. I'm def happy to take something because it helps me accomplish what I enjoy doing and moving forward with life. The side affects don't really bother me. Social anxiety really bothers me though and I can't let it ruin and take any more of my life away than it already has.

I work at night so i take it 1x day before work. But any medicine can have a different affect on people or no effect at all. The only way to know is to try. You can always discontinue use and try other medicines.

When I was on it ( i cant remember how`many mg) I got what felt like a sinus infection with a touch a flu, it wouldn't go away, and when i typed in side effects it said something about sinusitis. My nose wouldn't stop running. When I stopped taking it, I was ok again.(as far as the sinuses go, anyway).
Really...mmm I had the same problem for quite a while. Must have indeed been the medicine.

My doctor prescribed me it a couple of years ago but I was too scared of having side effects so I never tried it. I'm going to ask if I can try it again though, hopefully I'll have good experiences to report.. :)

Lexapro was the first antidepressant I tried. Was on 10mg (once a day i think) for a week and stopped right after. I was SO uncontrollably jittery and wired for the whole week for no particular reason. Doctor said he'd never heard of that sort of side effect. Being 1/1,000,000 isn't all that uncommon for me though when it comes to medication and treatment so :S

I take 10 mg in the morning. I've been on it for a little over a month and it has helped me with disturbing anxious thoughts. And no side effects to report thank God.

You're right, it is kind of high, but it's still within range. A few years ago I took Prozac. I was on it for about a year and a half. I felt no affects from it whatsoever, and I went all the way up to 80MG.
