Lie or tell the truth?

I was really surprised because my mentor from 2012 sms me and she asked how I am doing. I never get any sms since I don't have any friends so getting one from her was really unexpected. Now I have not been doing anything since then and it's a really long time. I don't know whether to lie to her telling her I am working. If I do I will really feel bad about it. How do you guys handle this situation? For example you came across your relatives or someone you know. I wish I was doing something productive so I don't have to lie to her.

I say be honest. As much as it hurts to tell the truth, sometimes its just the best thing to do i believe.

I think that the truth would be better, despite how difficult it can be you are better to be upfront and honest with people. It's better to tell an ugly truth then a pretty lie, because that lie can spread and develop into something you don't want to have to deal with.

I already told her I am working and I feel really guilty about it. Anyway it's a long story but I think she knows the truth as to why I left school. I don't know if I am being paranoid but if it is then I am so embarrassed! Gosh why does everything have to come down to this.

I think you may be blowing this out of proportion. I mean.. you NEVER see this person? Why stress about it?

yeah if you never see this person it shouldnt matter that much but i have similar situation arise when i run into people from my past..im basically just working and not doing anything else so not much to say..i usually end up doing a little exagerrating about what ive been up to..
