Lonely

Hello, I joined because I'm incredibly lonely and some of the messages I read struck a cord.

Had a pretty lonely childhood, no other kids around really so I learned to enjoy my own company and doing stuff that interested me. Maybe that's what's up with me but anyway, that's what makes me happy. Any friends I make in real life seem to turn spiteful or do something so crassly awful that I just can't be bothered with them. I think maybe they can tell ive sought out their friendship because I feel I should rather than liking them.

I moved to the country and I have spent 10 years happily making my home how I want it but I have no contact with anyone now. Not even online friends. Other than my family, who I also work for, I know nobody. I think I've made it that way because it suits me but it scares me a bit that I actually have no friends and I miss just talking to people.

Would somebody out there like somebody to chat to? I would love that so much.

Welcome to the forum, freudianslipper. I hope you enjoy the forum and the people here. :)

I am always willing to chat to people here, although I'm not logged in as much as I used to be. You're welcome to shoot me a PM when you want to, though. :)

Hello,

If I can suggest something (that has been mentioned a couple of times on the forum already, sorry if you heard it before), if you're looking for human interactions without necessarily having to deal with demanding friendships:

Taking courses, joining group activities (if you can stand that) or get into a sport that requires a partner (tennis, climbing) is a good way to meet people.

I like fun runs. There are thousands of other runners around me all with a positive. I'm not alone, but I am also anonymous, don't need to speak to anyone, just lap up the atmosphere.

Hello freudianslipper!

I am sorry you feel so very lonely. I am lonely too even though I love to talk to people I am familiar with. I have always been alone, especially after my favorite brother joined the Navy. Life has become very mundane and repetitive. So I know how you feel.....

hi freudianslipper, im new here also. i can relate with your loneliness..i transferred to another city 10 years ago to manage the family business and get away from drugs. i almost got married 3 years ago but it did not push through. after the end of our relationship and when she left to work overseas, i realized i have no more friends and only family(thank god for them). last 3 years has been really hard for me. more downs than ups..loneliness and boredom goes hand in hand

Hi there:) I also feel lonely sometimes. You know, at my age, people around me are crazy about K-pop or something like that. Maybe I am just too different to others. I can hardly find a friend who likes to listen to classical music. I'm rather an introvert and people around me keep asking me to be more talkative.
