losing voice

I'm not sure why but a lot of times when I try to leave a message my voice just goes bye bye x.x I was calling back for an interview and I said "hi this is ... I'm calling for fjeifje *clears throat* sorry um this uh.. yeah so please call back thanks." I think it might be genetic because my mom does the same. Is there any hope?

I don't think there's such a thing as genetic inability to show a clear voice when leaving a message, it's just nerves and anticipation. You're probably nervous about it from the moment you pick up the phone, or even before you do. You start planning what you're gonna say in order to avoid messing up, but then that's exactly what happens.

I agree, probably just nerves, or perhaps a minor tick you don't notice otherwise. When I'm chatting with people (friends, family, new people) I make a lot of pauses and stumble on words, when I get behind a mic and record vocals it's like I'm a different person and everything comes out fine.

Huh... I'm going to go in contradiction with the other posts but I do think genes can have something to do with it, because:

I used to have the same problem, and my father had this problem his whole life - still does.
I fixed this problem by fixing my health, allergy problems and food intolerance.
My father have had allergies all his life and recently discovered that he had food intolerance.

Therefor, since my loss of voice came from health issues, I think it can be somehow considered as hereditary. I don't know anything about genetics, so I don't know if that term applies. I noticed that my loss of voice was worst when in stressful social situation, but re-thinking about it I don't think it was worst per say: I think it's just because I noticed it more since I was feeling bad to clear my throat and cough all the time.

... Also probably because everytime I had to talk was a stressful social situation.

This happens to me too, but I may have a slight post-nasal drip problem not always triggered by nervousness.
