Magnesium threonate

Has anyone ever tried magnesium threonate? It is a new form of magnesium that is supposed to be really good for treating anxiety because it crosses the blood brain barrier easier. Since it works well for anxiety, it might have a positive effect on hyperhidrosis (I read somewhere that it affects the hippocampus which helps control temperature.) Has magnesium threonate helped anyones anxiety or hyperhidrosis?

Yeah, I am going to order a bottle on amazon and let you know if it works. I've tried magnesium oxide before and felt like it actually made me more anxious so I hope this form of magnesium works out.

So far, I have definitely noticed a decrease in anxiety. I have noticed a slight decrease in sweat, but not extremely noticeable as of now

i believe i have only tried magnesium citrate which, like you said, seemed to give me more anxiety and also felt like higher blood pressure and headaches

Magnesium threonate definitely works much better for anxiety than other magnesium types I have tried

Oh, by the way....isn't the hypothalamus the part of the brain that controls body temperature? You said hippocampus :p

or maybe i'm wrong lol

Yeah, I think the hypothalamus is the main part of the brain that effects body temperature control (I don't think magnesium has any affect on that part of the brain though). I read that the hippocacmus can help control body temperature too (Effects of body temperature on neural activity in... [J Neurosci. 2007] - PubMed - NCBI).

Also, should I be taking calcium supplements with the magnesium? I am probably deficient in calcium, but I had heard that calcium depletes magnesium. I heard that people take calcium channel blockers sometimes for hyperhidrosis, so would increasing calcium worsen sweating?

It is a good question about the calcium. It is tricky because I have also heard that it interferes with magnesium absorption and undermines the effects of magnesium...

as for the calcium channel blockers...I am not sure that I ever got around to trying those...although I have tried Beta blockers which have had no effect on my hyperhidrosis
