Micro ETS

I have been lurking the forums and other HH forums for a while, but wanted to share that i did have this surgery and it was successful :D .

I went to Dr. Nielson in Texas. I was very skeptical due to all the horror stories online and in forums about the ETS surgeries. I had HH of the hands, feet, and armpits. Excessive in all spots so i figured nothing else could be that bad. He cut T2-T4. I no longer sweat in any of those areas and very rarely sweat anywhere else (it was nearly 100 and humid in Texas, not a drip). The only time i do sweat (on the lower of my back) is when i am really really hot or doing a lot of physical activity....and when i do sweat it is a normal amount, not excessive.

I wish i would have opted for this surgery years ago...

Most people get the same results as you first. It is the long term effect that ETS can have that can make you regret. Right now you should enjoy your dryness, but keep a good eye on any compensatory sweating.

Congratulations and thanks for your short inspirational story. I 'm curious (for starters) how much it cost & if your Health Ins. covered it? I sometimes think it would be best to get the operation just to end the whole unwelcomed sweaty situations once & for all.

fastball2929, I agree, but i do have some CS, not bad though. it may worsen in time, but i think i would take that over my hands, armpits and feet sweating an extreme amount...i would soak through shirts (armpits) and ruin things i touched with my hands. not to mention i ruined shoes from sweating constantly in them...shoe laces would snap, inerlinign would fall apart, etc. Don't bring me down! lol

Fuzzy, there are many risks to it, and thats why it took me so long to take the leap of faith..i was scared to death to get it done, but i have suffered so many years and i just couldnt handle it anymore...no other methods worked for me (drionic/topical treatments, etc)

As for the cost, it was around $9,000 total for surgeon, hospital, and anesthia. Only thing that came out of my pocket so far was the plane/hotel and my deductibles. I saw the bill they were sending to the insurance company and its total was like $17,000...it said they charged $6,900 per side and other misc costs...that is the undiscounted rate though that they try to get th einsurance to cover...if insurance will not cover i would be stuck with about $9,000 to pay. I don't know if all surgeons have the costs seperated like he did, or if they bundle them...probably would have been cheapered bundled (and more convenient).

congratulations on your results. not to discourage you but i've heard that a lot of people who have ets go through a honey moon period where they don't notice really any side effects until maybe even years later. i'm scared to get this done and would never get the nerves cut only clamped so there's a change for reversing it if i turned out horrible. i haven't tried iontophoresis yet so i hope that works better than hydrosal gel.

i've read all the horror stories on it, but the main thing they mention is the CS. which will never be worse than what i had before...the sweat alone from my armpits would go over most of my shirts. the hands dripped over everything. only thing i would be upset about is if my palmar sweating comes back.

as for clamping...that is just as dangerous, and reversals are risky. another thing about clamping is if the clamp comes off....clamping gives you a sense of reversal possibilities, but i don't know...saw some reversal disasters too.
