Mirtazapine

I'm a new member and I am currently taking Mirtazapine. I had been taking the maximum dose which was two tablets. It's a bit naughty of me, but since stress levels were really bad I increased the dosage without asking the psychiatrist. Things improved dramatically. I decided to increase it still more in order to break my thought patterns, and then go back to the maximum dose once I had done that. I have been unable to find any information as to what's bad about taking more than the maximum dose. All I know is that it is not recommended to go higher, but why? I went up to seven tablets last night. From what I've read there's no chance this could cause death. I really couldn't care less if exceeding the maximum dose is risky, because my life was awful before. I haven't noticed any bad effects of increasing the dose, and I'm the most well I've been for a while. I'm about to see my psychiatrist, and I'm not sure how happy he'll be about what I've done.

With my level of high school knowledge from biology and my freshman year of engineering chemistry, this is my opinnion.

Anything can happen, really. Depending on what the drugs specific role is, it can lead to multiple things, and these may not even effect the area it is suppose to effect. I only have experience with Zoloft, so I don't know (neither have I researched what you are taking) how much this my apply.

Zoloft is an artifical serotine for example. It helps regulate the neuron receptors to help with the communication between each neuron in my head. I think it helps with the breakdown of ACH that is used to communicate between each synpase. If I take too much, I wonder what could happen? I could basically not communicate at all with what is happening with my mind, I might become too dependent on the artifical substances that my body begins (depending on how long the exposure of your case) to resist its natural methods of hormone production and just be dependent on the outside source. You might have other harmful effects such as poor motor control, over production of certain areas of the brain, lack of sleep and the body might have mixed feelings on vital organs that are responsible to determining sleep, breathing, CO2 levels, etc. Let alone, it may or may not increase pH levels of your blood or thicken your blood due to the excess amounts of inhibitors, or whatever your med does to you, where the chemicals just stay in your blood stream.

You can venture off a little bit, they don't usually put you on the border line, but if you start doing too much of this you might case some big problems, regardless. Who knows what could happen. Heck, if you drink too much water, what happens.

Hello both of you :) As far as how I get extra pills, the pharmacy gives refills and don't appear to realize if I finish them off quicker.

I take Remeron 45mgs. Welcome to SPW! ;) Once you exceed the maximum dosage the medicine is no longer getting anymore effective, it just has unneccessary level of side effects, and exceeding the max dose could also cause OD symptoms and or serotonin syndrome.

I can tell you with me it has been far more effective past 45 and hasn't plateaud. As far as side effects, perhaps the few weeks I've been on more is too short to tell, but nothing of concern. It takes a little bit longer to get to orgasm, but that doesn't bother me. I had never heard of serotonin syndrome but I looked at up and I guess that could be a concern.

What I've read says it can have negative sexual side effects, although less common than with other antidepressants. It also said that it often increases libido.

I saw my psychiatrist today. Needless to say he wasn't happy about me taking matters into my own hands and is getting me to reduce, although he is willing to put me at 90mg, which he says is the most he puts people on. He is getting me to take a blood test because of possible toxicity. If that comes out okay I'll consider what I did worth it, because I'm the most well I've been all year. I'm not going to disobey his advice again!

hey guys, im considering trying remeron and i had a question. my problem is twofold so im trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. I have anxiety and depression problems but I also have extreme excessive sweating problems. Ive had both problems all my life so I cant say if one caused the other but the point is some sweating is certainly proven to be caused by anxiety . I just read a study by doctors in Italy saying a patient was treated for anxiety with remeron and he also had severe generalized Hyperhidrosis. in this article it says the patient remained on remeron and was following up for a year and a half and during this time his excessive sweating had stopped! so im curious and really would like to hear if anyone else had success with remeron for hyperhidosis?? thanks a lot
