Moving to anothercountry

Hello,

I've been planning to do so for my studies, this involved a couple of interviews with that country's consulate. I felt anxious at first, but things turned out good.

A new country, with a completely different society, a new language (which I know perfectly), no friends (which is nothing different from here to be frank), no close relatives...etc.

Being from an arabian country, our culture is quite different, "religion" is everywhere (sorry I couldn't make them any bigger), many things are taboo here.

Surprisingly enough my anxiety is not skyrocketing at the idea of getting the hell away from this messed up society, which is quite amazing. I feel relieved on the contrary.

EDIT : Feel free to move this to another section, if you think this thread doesn't pertain here.

Take care so you don't move to one of those guettos where only immigrants live when seeking an affordable home...

Thank you for your replies guys, It makes me feel more confident about this.

Will you be taking your tortoise?

No, sadly, I'll miss it a lot.

Funny you should mention that, France has a lot of north african immigrants, (especially in Marseille), my countrymen have a bad reputation there sadly...

There's no chance I'd want to live in immigrant areas, I am feeling the opposite of homesick.

Yeah, well, that's what happens when a country lure generations of immigrants in the hopes of making them into a cheap workforce capable of maintaining the welfare state for the old and dying native population.

And now, the same people who created the mess, the european "progressive" left, dare to cry "Racism!" to any sign of concern with the current immigration policies of the EU, which only make things easier for terrorists to come in and worse for decent people like you.

That's exactly what happened with the first waves of immigrants after our independence.

The moved to France because they were taught its language by the settlers + because it's close to our country.

Now, when everyone thinks of moving elsewhere, France is the first destination that pops up. The wealthier go to Canada (Generally Quebec because of the language).

Talking about politics, the french far right wing is gaining popularity somehow. The latest terrorist acts are making the matter worse for everyone.

Haha thanks :) , how can you be sure that I am not up to some fishy monkey business though?

Right now, this is the way I am feeling :

France is entirely to blame for what is going on there. To any normal person it would seen obvious that mass immigration from a poor country with a completely different culture could only bring trouble, but the left is always confident they can program society to behave like they want with their social engineering policies.

The african immigrants, as would any other people in their situation, wanted the standards of living of the french, not to be made into 2nd class citizens. However they were not as qualified for the jobs around as the french, who always received 1st world education and opportunities, so not even that was possible. Now they had a mass of unemployed immigrants in a foreign country which never wanted to truly integrate them.

Yeah, we often hear on the media about the growing menace of the right, fueled by sheer hatred against any non-white natives and the desire of bring Hitler from the dead.

This is a lie. There is no "far right" growing anywhere, not any bigger than the expected number of nutjobs in any other country anyway. What is "far right", by the way? Far right equals nazism and fascism (god the irony, two branches of SOCIALI$M), where are the neonazi and fascist parties? Where are the supporters of concentration camps, mass murder and racial superiority? Only in the narrative of the corrupt media and their bosses on the European Parliament.

Europeans overall are decent people, and so the majority of immigrants when the country have good immigration policies. Everyone knows this, but whoever tries to defy the narrative receive the tag of "far right".

What is actually happening is that people are growing more and more concerned about the safety and the future of their societies under the stupidity of those currently in power and their ideologies. This is a good thing, the changes coming with that awareness will make society more safe to immigrants, not more prejudiced.

Haha thanks :) , how can you be sure that I am not up to some fishy monkey business though?

lol

Take care with this kind of joke there though, reminds me of a brazilian going to the US right after 9/11 who had the bad idea of jokingly tell the authorities at the airport he was a terrorist.

They were not amused, not at all. :eek:h:

Yeah I was thinking about that...didnt want to say anything and cause you anxiety though. Theres a lot of prejudice building up right now in a lot of places. Id personally be too nervous to go, but thats not living I suppose.

I am not really into politics, can't say that much

Don't worry about that, things like terrorism aren't to be taken lightly, I'd never make a joke about that.

@Megaten
Yeah I get what you mean, you'd feel anxious just at the idea of thinking that people might think you are something bad that you actually aren't.

Thankfully I got over that.

Besides people who think as such, are idiots.

Getting the hell outta Africa in two days, don't know if I should get anxious about this...

Edit : This was meant to happen in August, but for some reason I had it postponed

Hello PugofCrydee, thank you for the kind words.

This is my second day in Paris, my anxiety level got pretty high a couple of times, but it was manageable. I was hanging out yesterday in a pretty crowded area, I handled it pretty well, oh yeah, and it was full of hipsters!

I got to Versailles by train, and god do I love it there! the streets are most of the time empty.
There are some tourists around Château de Versailles, it's pretty calm elsewhere.
