When placed in a position of trust over someone in a delicate situation like this, it can be all too tempting sometimes to violate that trust when a natural attraction develops. While I don't believe you have violated the trust placed in you here, you have stood perilously close to the edge, and were you to go over, it could be a very long way down. I think your decision to back away is very sensible and wise. It may not be easy, but I hope it works out well for you.
