nervous vomiting

Sadly, I don't have anything helpful to contribute. I wish I did. But I would like to share my experience, since you asked if anybody else deals with this sort of problem.

I've had panic disorder (as well as OCD, but didn't realize it until later in life) ever since I was a toddler. When I was about 5 years old, my mom would work late at night, or go to night school at a college about half an hour out of town. My grandma lived with us, so she would watch me until I went to bed, or until my mom came home. I suffered from separation anxiety, so when I was stuck with my grandma, I would have a panic attack. She'd also watch things that scared the sh*t out of me, like ER and Unsolved Mysteries, lol. That made it worse.

Every night my mom was gone, I'd throw up. It was obviously from my nerves. It was just the way I naturally reacted to my anxiety. I had this little table and chairs set, and would take one of the chairs in the bathroom, and sit there pretty much all night, just in case I had to throw up. Or if I had already thrown up, I would stay there all night saying "I'm not moving in case I have to puke again". I'd fall asleep in the chair. Fun times!

I do still suffer from this problem, but not as often. My anxiety usually goes in the other direction, and I have to rush to the restroom. It sucks. If I go somewhere or if I'm in a situation that I know will cause me to panic, I take Imodium to help avoid it.

This was pointless, but I wanted to share because I'm gay.

Hi everybody, bit of an update for you (see my previous post).

I did indeed meet up with that girl yesterday and again today. Doesn't look like there's going to be anything much going on between us, but that's beside the point. More importantly, the 40mg of Propranolol seems to be doing the trick. I think I left it too late first time (might have been closer to 20 mins than 30 between taking the tablets and meeting the girl) but the last two times I've left about 40 minutes and have avoided being sick or even really feeling like I'm going to.

So if you suffer from this problem, don't be afraid to go to the doctor and ask for Propranolol. There might be no real future between me and this girl, but I have more peace of mind for the future.
