New and Nervous!

Hi There.
I'm new here and ohhh so nervous! I have never done anything like this before and thought it was worth a try, I 've had a good look around the forum and everyone seems so freindly!
So, here goes. I have been Agoraphobic for 20 years and have tried everything to help myself, but nothing seems to work, I also have Anxiety.
I can take the dog for a walk, so I'm not completely house bound. I seem to have more trouble with car journeys as, they take me away from my "comfort zone" faster! I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels isolated and alone, I live in the country, miles from anywhere.
I am a 38 year old female, sod it! 39, I'm older than I thought! and am gorgeous! (that was a joke, face like a bag of spanners really!).

I hope to chat to you all sometime and meet everyone, but I am nervous, so be gentle!

Love to all and take care. :D

Hi Again.
Wow! thanks so much for all your replies, I'm impressed, you are all really friendly!
No, sensitive, I don't suffer social phobia, I'm not too bad around people, its the getting to places I have a problem with.
yetisbabe, I'm really sorry to hear you've been suffering so badly, but you seem pretty positive to me and that helps.

Thanks once again, what a lovely lot!

Love always.

Welcome welcome Jamo, put your feet up on the sofa, don't mind the hairy chewing gums stuck to it though, they're grumblina's.

Hi Jamo
I am new here too, but unfortunately not new to agoraphobia and panic attacks, 15 years now.
I have had a lot of hard times trying to get, at first over the doorstep, and then away from the neighbourhood. I seem to be doing pretty well these days. I can get i a car and drive to anywhere that's not too far away 30 miles roughly. And i can be driven anywhere, don't mind really as long as i'm with hubby I feel safe enough. It's taken a lot of heartache to get here though, drug addiction being the worst thing. Benzodiazapines took a while to get away from.
I ran from one medication to another, one gimmicky therapy to annother. etc etc, Basically i was just chasing my tail, swapping anxiety effects for side effects ( i'm not saying drugs don't help guys, just that they didn't help me in the end)
In the end I just got angry, not with myself, ( for a change ) but with the panic attacks. When I have an attack coming on, My attitude is go on, bring it on, i can take you, you can't hurt me anymore than you already have, and it works ( most of the time lol  )
I just wish there was a sure fire way for everyone to give panic attack the shove you know.
Good luck to ya hun, i know yo'll find your answer out there
Jules

Hi Jamo and welcome to the site. He's right you know about the dictionary-speaking of such i just consulted mine and could not find Tardis or Tarids would you be so kind McShy as to enlighten us to the meaning. Thankyou and much appreciated.

Hello McShy i have consulted your link and now know that a Tardis is Dr. Who's time travel machine.
Forgive me my friend but i am not a fan of the old or new series. Although of the few snippets of episodes i have seen, i have concluded that i like the original Doc better, yes i have seen so little of the show that is all i can comment on i am afraid - i like his posh voice mainly and wild out of control hair.
Oh - so i am going to be annoyingly and targetably? obvious here and exclaim an astonishing revelation - that this is where your combative, 'defence mechanism' dalek comes from. Okay i heard that - you know what i'm talking about - that no shit comment you muttered. Okay so it may have been called for - but i'm just trying to show some interest - well i don't have to try i am interested - you creative mad genius you, who seems to have a penchant for Dr. Who - and i mean that in the nicest possible way - nice interacting with you McShy i've missed our little not so private tete-a-tete.

It's a Doctor Who ref (how could someone so lovely not know this ref. Sigh,

Mmmm... you seem somewhat disappointed with my ignorance McShy. Thankyou for calling me lovely and i love the 'As Big Red commands, so shall i do' - you could end up giving me a big head. Big Red with a Big Head.

Hi everyone.
Thanks again for the replies!
Moonbabe, you should be so proud of yourself, I know I would be, a huge pat on the back for you please!
And McShy, I'll try the two pints of lager and packet of crisps, but I'll pass on the Tarids Ooops! Tardis! he he. I'm not a fan of Doctor Who, but I like your style!
Once again, thank you all!

Take care and love always.
