Newbie, hello & humidiy - worst nightmare?

Hi, I'm new to this group. I have been tortured by HH since I was 10 years old, now 34. My hands and feet are the worst affected (dripping like a tap every waking moment) but I sweat everywhere! I descovered Oxybutynin when I was 20 and it saved my life. It decreases the sweating by about 70% but only in cool temperatures. I now live in Spain (great move, right?) and have been dreading the summer. I use iontophoresis on my feet which works if I use it for 1 hour per day constantly. I can't put my hands anywhere near it, the pain is excruciating, even on the lowest setting. I tried botox and it was a total waste of money. I was wondering if anyone else's symtoms get 1000 worse in humidity? For me it's not just sweating but my fingers and feet swell up to the point where I can't bend my fingers properly and they throb. I'M SO SICK OF THIS BULLSHIT- sorry, having a really bad time at the moment, not even leaving the house during the day. I go all winter being able to semi-control it and then I'm back to being a 13 year old ashamed sweaty teenager. I've just ordered Avert and I'm hoping it works better. Anyone have similar experience? Thanks for reading.

Cindy1983,

Sounds like you have it real bad.
Pulsed current might work for your hands since it does reduce the feeling of being electrocuted.
With luck Avert will help.
I grew up in a humid climate and yes HH is way worse as is an extremely dry climate with heat over 100 degrees.
You are on the correct path for trying Avert. In your case there really arent that many options.... sorry.

"I'M SO SICK OF THIS BULLSHIT" -Same.

I've met a few HH suffers that have it like me. The conversations are hilarious because it is exactly like this video :)

Oxybutynin = the only long term solution I have found to at least reduce/almost stop sweating in normal situations. Hot days are still an issue. If I am off of Oxy for a decent amount of time and go back on in higher MGs, I can have complete stoppage of sweat. It is glorious.

When I first went on it back when I was 15, it gave me so much hope.

Cindy, How much Oxybutynin do you take a day/week?

taco,

maybe you can help me.

I've been on Lyrinel XL and was having good success, a huge improvement. Felt like a new person.

4/5 mnths later, it stopped working ( at this stage I'm guessing it was the Lyrinel ) and I've been trying and hoping it would kick back in.

I'm taking 20mg daily. Varying dosage and time taken, to try and have some success. I have to take Lyrinel for another issue also.

How long are the periods when you stop and sort of dosages are you taking when you go back on?

Hey, I take 5mg of Oxy twice a day. It just has no effect on my hands and feet in humid weather. I have just this morning taken my first Avert! I just went for a walk in 31C and I didn't sweat! It felt weird! The only thing is my mouth/lips/throat SUPER dry. As in I'm chewing gum and it dries up. I hope this side effect wears off. I also don't know whether to take it at night like I was with the Oxy- I think it would be too much. Any advice? Thanks!

Try and read some back posts. This was a common topic and there is lots of answers to your question if you take the time to search. The side effect of Glyco does not go away. You may need to adjust your dosage.
